Shoulder Surgery
« on: December 21, 2008, 11:40:57 AM »
Just wondering who has a shoulder surgery to remove bone spurs and how long it took to get back to training with decent weight. The sergeon told me about six weeks, does that sound about right? I know alot will say I will never recover.........

Sure you will...think positively :)

I have no idea about the timing but seems like you should take it easy and start light after getting back into lifting.  Seems like no lifting for 6 weeks and then light weights but I don't know. Listen to your doc.

Maybe The Coach has some words of wisdom..you may want to post this on the injury and rehab board.

I have had 4 rotator cuff surgeries.

Long, long rehgaps. Can't lift for one year with total tears.

Bone spurs are a bit different. Need more details..but generally...6 week window till you get back.

Think positive, get a proactive doc.

You will rise.

Has it taken off any of your height? I'm thinking of Hulk Hogan who went from 6'6" to 6'3" due to back surgery, knee surgery, neck surgery and hip replacement.

Were these as a result of injuries? What did you do to require so many? And heart surgery? For what? Your insurance co must hate you. You're like the 6 million dollar man without the super powers.

Shit. I've never even heard of anyone else with that number of surgeries.

My (about to be) former roommate has had 27 at my last count. All except one had to do with his motorcycle accident that occurred in '96. On Valentines Day of that year, they cut off his right arm after the surgery to reattach it was successful, yet the nerves were already too far damaged. From skin graphs, muscle replacement surgeries, clean up work, to having nearly 10 different surgeries on the same ankle (he didn't rehab it properly of all those times, it's still fucked up for the same reason!), his HMO had spent 2.2 million dollars on him as of eight years ago when he told me that number. :o :o :o
His one other surgery was his left knee when he tore his ACL playing basketball.
