funny, i was thinking the same about you "polychronopolous"

E

So by Earls logic a good part of the mainstream 90's did not even contain rock music, because it was classified as "alternative"

It's like talking to the smart ass 9 year old younger brother at the dinner table

if anybody seems like a 9 year old, it's you crying over a simple subject like this

there's rock n roll and then there is alternative

Oh and the best decade for rock was and always will be the 70's.
Hmm. I'm kinda with you on this. I'm old and have listened to music all my life and I just love the years 1965-75. Starts with when The Beatles stopped all that 'Holding hands' music, and The Stones got serious and Led Zepp came out of the gates full tilt, The Who were trashing hotel rooms, Eric Clapton was wasted but was God, Jimi put out 5 seminal albums, etc. I could go on and on. Just so much creativity, by so many groups actually playing real instruments. I still keep up with the new stuff but I just gravitate to this stuff; it just resonates with me. Makes me happy.  :)

90s was best era for everything...

Yeah, I second that.... And you could buy all the gear you wanted without worrying too much about getting pinched cause Cops could care less about that kind of stuff.

rock music is good vocals, actually singing into the microphone

solid guitar solos, not just pounding on it

alternative is more talking or screaming into the mic

to put rage against the machine or soundgarden in the same caegory as van halen or led zeppelin is quite retarded

Lol, rock music is "good vocals" and alternative is "screaming into the mic"

Yeah, great explanation....... ::)

I myself, said that the 60's and 70's is the best era for rock music

But your attempt to define alternative music as "talking or screaming into the mic" was really lame

Exactly. Owned.

This ain't amateur hour, son.

And by the way, Kurt Cobain was a very underrated guitarist AND song writer.

Anyone who "killed" rock music must have had some kind of talent.

haha you were owned the moment you lost your temper over a simple subject like this, is santa not bringing what you want for christmas? ;D

you are a mental midget thinking nirvana and rage are the same genre of music as led zeppelin, rock is dead

i never said kurt didn't have talent, i like alternative music but it is NOT the same as rock music

How the hell are gonna name either of those bands in with Black Sabbath, Slayer and Pantera? That's just plain wrong.

This is the metal of this decade:

Nile IS badass, but as far as dominating the "scene" like we're talking about, it's not them.  I'd put Cannibal Corpse in front of Nile, though.

kurt cobain and nirvana were actually overrated, nevermind was voted the most overrated album of all time. As far as id song writing and guitar playing go, he was not a very talented in either department, he just knew how to make a couple of good songs that moved the people

Different times. Back in the eighties you had the big four of thrash and then came the followers. Now everything is much more fragmented. Cannibal Corpse is a great band too!

I agree with Boonstak; 90s and 60s were the best eras for rock.

The 00s are pretty good too though.

Bands like White Stripes and The Killers put out excellent stuff IMO.

Also, today, there is a resurgence of 90s acts like Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Smashing Pumpkins, putting out some of their best stuff ever.

Les Claypool is one of the most talented bass players ever to play.
