Question for Alex23
« on: December 23, 2008, 12:19:29 AM »
I would like to bring my lateral raises up.  What is your shoulder workout?  What do you suggest to bring my lateral poundage up.  Anything past 35 feels weird and the next day my traps are sore.  Thanks man.  Peace.

Don't worry about lateral raises worry about building up your strength in the MILITARY PRESS/OVERHEAD PRESS.  ;)

As you do this you'll progressively be able to handle more weight in the lateral raise. You won't gain for shit by simply trying to increase strength in your lateral raise with the lateral raise itself.

Totally agree with what's been said, I have found pre exhaust work to be beneficial occasionally or for a short training block but Military press is the way forward just to repeat what's been said!!

Agree..get stronger on your compounds and your muscles will get bigger.

You can even mix it up now and then by doing push press or clean and press

wasn't it jeremy hoornstra that said he uses the 100s for sets of 6 with MASSIVE swing? something like that.

i've started doing DB front raises with a hell of a swing but making sure the DB still gets over my head and it feels pretty excellent. don't go much above the 40s or so.

Yes. If you're in the military, call it the "Military Press."
If you're not in the military, call it the "Overhead Press." ;)

Then, you just call it "THE MILITARY." You don't even say "press."  ;)
