I spent some time with a cop who shot and killed a 16 year old kid in NYC who pointed a gun at him.

He was all screwed up in the head.  And this was 10 years after he recovered.

My brother capped a guy in the gut, and he lived, and it still fvcks with his head too.

My guess is that the ppl who have done it don't want to think about it.

It probably depends on how developed of a sense of morality you have.  If you're one of those believers in heaven/hell, absolute right and wrong and the like, it would probably mess with you, but there are many people out there incapable of feeling empathy.  Some of these people have killed and either been caught or not, and for many others the only thing that keeps them on this side of the line are the legal consequences if caught.

If you can't put yourself in the other guy's shoes, and don't see him as a human being, it's easy.  How do you think the SS troops managed to kill 6 million Jews and not feel pause?  If you can convince yourself you're not dealing with worthy human beings, people like yourself, then you're not doing more than swatting a fly.  People swat flies every day without thinking twice.

Good post. Victor Frankl wrote something that = somewhat related to this in "Man's search for meaning", about how he and others after being in a concentration camp for a while did not get emotionally affected by seeing dead bodies, 12 year olds getting killed and things like that.

Another simple solution: Just make a small country for them somewhere that does not cause problems like the Israel shit, and force them to live there. Then you will see how a community of below 80 IQ morons and religious fruitcakes will self organize and work (meaning: it will be worse than Somalia).

The emotion I would feel would be anger if the collision fuccked up my car.  I imagine if the animal belonged to a friend or something I'd feel bad (for the friend), otherwise who gives a fuck.... animals die every day.
