The future is here: Super Whey Protein SHOTS?

http://www.thesupplementrating.com/listing.php?id=1048

http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/nutrition-calories/food/body-fortress/super-whey-protein-shot/

110 calories, and 26 grams of protein, in only 2.9 fl ounces of fruit punch flavored liquid.

has anyone tried these?  They seem too good to be true.  I bought one at walmart tonight for $1.99 and have not tried it yet.

I just bought a tub of Body Fortress Whey with Creatine and Taurine at Target.  I didn't see any of those though.

I'll check them out at Walmart tomorrow.

yeah, they suck, but i guess they have protein in em so they are cool anyway. but the amount of liquid is really small and it doesnt taste good. im skeptical about how much protein is actually in it too. but its like a buck 50 so whatever.

they were on a floating endcap (between aisles) at walmart.  if theyr'e good... holy shit... they're going to put the wheymakers out of business.  why suck down 32 ounces of whey mix if you can chug 3 ounces of fruit punch with the same effect?

that's right.  The Protein Industrial Complex may see it as a threat!

Shitty company. I bet their shitty protein's also extremely low quality and isn't even what you see on the labels. I wouldn't buy premixed protein. How hard is it to carry an empty shaker bottle and a bag of protein? Hell, you can put the protein IN the shaker bottle and you've got a portable shake right there. A lot cheaper too.

Padden-Jones et al. showed that administration of an essential amino acid (EAA) solution containing 2.8g leuincreased MPS by ~60% in adult humans (2).
Tipton et al. demonstrated that amino acid solutions containing 4.4g and 8.3g leustimulate MPS similarly (50-70% increase) in adults (3).
It is likely ~3-4g leucine(~0.045-0.06 g/kg) will maximize MPS at a meal in adults.

Protein Source = Whey Protein Isolate
Leu% of total protein = 12.0%
Amount of protein from source to reach 3-4g Leucine = 25-33g

Ron Paul warned us all back in the 80's about the Protein Industrial Complex

It's all part of the Amino Acid Union, an evil plan to unite all protein manufacturers and eliminate all other forms of the macronutrient.

The World Beef Council is working to undermine their efforts.

Shitty company.

Yep.

BUT

Hopefully the gurus at Muscletech and BSN are reading this thread, realizing there is a HUGE demand for a guaranteed quality, delicious protein shot for about a buck, and are going to start 2009 with a game plan for improving this current design and putting their name on it :)

The winner will be the consumer

it should be different depending on hormone levels, natty or juicer.

layne is going off of the amount of leucine it takes to activate mtor (protein synthesis).  of course a juicer can eat more protei (although he can get by on much less protein), however the base amount of protein needed to stimulate mtor is probably the same whether your natty or not

There's a very small market for these sorts of things. I think RTDs would be the way to go. You don't have to particularly be a bodybuilder to pick one up at the corner store. But it's like energy shots versus a bottle of stims. It's far more economical to just buy a bottle of your favorite stim rather than pick up an energy shot at the corner store. Most people just do that when they're in a pinch. Myself, I have that shit in my bag at work with some protein and whole foods in case I get a little hungry between breaks.

The profit margins are extremely low as well. Combined with the packaging costs and the fact that Cytosport will be carrying MuscleMilk in 7/11, I think that it'd be a poor business decision. BSN and Muscletech have the money to do this though.
