Many/most people we see on TV are average or below average height and size.
The other night I was in a club and Jerry Rice walked in. Granted, he retired 4-5 years ago. But after seeing the guy on TV, playing in the NFL and wearing his pads under his uniform, you get used to seeing him and thinking he's a big guy.
He didn't even look to weigh 180lbs though. Different sources have him at 200:
