« on: January 03, 2009, 09:58:45 AM »
Am i right in thinking there are a shitlot of Irish-American/American-Irish on here or those with an Irish connection?

Also out of you how many do MMA, a martial art, box for cardio or competitively?

Feel free to flame away but how many like the imagery and associations of Boston Celtics, Fightin' Irish etc etc

well I am part Irish on my mother's side.  My father was a kickboxer back in Laos, Thailand, and while he lived in France so he taught me alot when I was younger.

Probably going to get talked shit on, but I am a big mma fan, and do train some, and no I am not some wannabe mma badass, but yes I can hold my own.

As far as names go they are fine with me, but I really don't believe in all of that political correct bullshit.

Cool.

I remember we talked via PM about that before.

Anyone else.

Also, to those who are, do you embrace your Irishness lol and heritage? or try as best you can to hide it

I am part Irish.

I don't care too much for MMA but I do catch a fight on occasion.

Athletic teams with Irish mascots don't bother me.  I don't know why native americans are so offended by the Braves, Indians, Red Skins etc...

Sometimes, it is trendy to be Indian (the Tonto kind, not the Ghandi kind).  Remember the kid from VisionQuest  that used to introduce himself with "I'm one quarter Indian on my mother's side" but come to find out, he wasn't an Indian at all.  What a mook!!

That is the problem with most Americans.  It shouldn't be amusing to know your ancestry.  I can trace my family back quite a ways on both sides.

Why would you not want to know the history of your family?  Without knowing your past what is the point of all of there lives?

sounds like you and goudy have a date.  Hopefully it's in the gym, but if a bath house fits your preference, then by all means, top of the creampie to ya's.

Well I went there this june and it is true they hate bush, everyone talked about Obama in the bars.  As far as hating Americans though, I didn't get any of that, and I looked crazy when I went. . . . . got drunk in a lot of bars with the "locals". . . . excellent time, and I hope to go back in a few years, really liked Dingle and Kilkenny.

Irish are/were known as the 'blacks of europe'

Irish people built the USA basically.

Many people hate USA and bush so much over here. Personally i dont care enough about politics to hate him etc

I quite like americans especially the ones i encountered in work. I also worked with a big fucking lump on the door. Ex marine called Kevin who was from brooklyn. Nice guy

I've got ancestors who came over from Ireland in the 1700's 1800's.  Got many more from Scotland.

I found a lot on Ancestry.com
