that picture was obviously before the three other spotters joined in on the "action", i've seen clips of him training and he always has AT LEAST 4 guys pulling on his bench press, still an extremely strong guy though.

To his credit he wouldn't know an Inzer shirt from a Haynes t shirt. He was doing these lifts with no denim lifting gear unlike the powerlifters today.. And not to forget he'd barely be over 220-230 at the time.

what i'm saying is that he always had 4-5 guys pulling on his bar so who knows how much of the load he was really pushing, my guess is that Jimmy was a LEGITIMATE 550-560  shirtless bencher which is still INCREDIBLE for his or any bodyweight.

I know what you're saying. Despite the spotters alot of weight still being moved all without the shirt.

Give me a break.  That was pathetic.  I would like to see him take 450lbs without a bench shirt and stop at his chest for 2 seconds.  He would be buried.  Just what the hell is an assisted bench?  If I can get three guys to pull up 150lbs or more "spotting" makes the lift impressive?  The guy is strong but he couldn't compete against real strength athletes.

But he could fit his cranium between Jim Quinns inner quads.

How many strength athletes can claim that?
