It looks like taxpayers are trying to flee the high tax states with high illegal alien populations.

What do New York & California have in common:

1.  Very high taxes.
2.  Large ### of illegal aliens
3.  Large ### of government employees
4.  Very liberal state legislators
5.  Shrinking middle class
6.  Huge concentrations of uber-rich and uber poor.

Read the story.  The facts dont lie.

Middle Class taxpayers are fleeing these states, not the rich or the poor who benefit off of high taxes and social cadillac welfare programs.

colorado has a high degree of illegals in case you didnt know.  new hampshire does not, has no income tax and people are not fleeing to there.

Not true.  Many people from Mass. flee to NH due to oppressive taxation.

The issue is taxes.  One an average home where I am, the property taxes are anywhere from 8,000 and up a year.  I have one client who pays 60k a year in property taxes.

Wow.

They could solve the problem if they kicked out the illegals.

1.  Kick illegals off of welfare and out of the schools and they will go home on their own.

2.  Illegals take up many prison cells costing $$$$$

3.  Illegals are destroying CA health care systems.  Look it up.

The issue is the faltering economy. The article points out that a similar thing happened during the recession of the 90s.  New York and California are expensive places to live, aside from taxes. California has record high unemployment rates and  home foreclosures. Too many members of the middle class live beyond their means and when the boom times end they don't have much recourse. They are already up to  their eyeballs in debt.

We've said it before, eliminate welfare in all forms to illegals and they will disappear in great numbers. The current handout system of WIC, public payments, housing, etc to a third world mexican or whatever is like one of us moving to Canada and the gvt kicking down 80K/yr in freebies.

Hospitals in CA are quickly becoming a joke. You go to any ER and there are five dozen illegals there loitering around the waiting room. You know damn well they just give a fake name and fake ID and wait for 6 hours and they get their shit for free. Meanwhile, if you got in for anything legit, expect a 3000K bill and $80 aspirin.

Schools are just free daycare for illegals. Name me one school in Cali that has over 25% hispanic that is even margionally functional as an educational institution.

and yes, Colorado has a lot of illegals too unfortunatly, however you rarely see the completely overrun towns that Cali has all over in the central valley.

I'm telling all you people who think the illegals aren't any big problem... Come out to California for a few weeks. Go walk around in Fresno, Modesto, Irvine, Stockton, Salinas, etc, etc. and see what these animals do to a community.

Why would you live in CA if you're middle class?  That would mean living in an apartment, and basically overpaying for everything.  And if you do save up enough money for a home, it's going to be an overpriced, fixer-upper condo for $450k.  A person making $75-125k/year could move to any state in the Midwest or South, buy a home, and have a savings.  When a state has housing that outprices even well paid professionals, it's a disaster.

This is not surprising and I wouldn't be shocked if the trend continues.  No one wants to be slaughtered with excessive taxation and few want to live in an area that has uncontrolled illegal immigration.  Its hard to leave the place you grew up so if natives are leaving the state, it means a lot.

Because it's hard to make $75-125K/yr in most places?

The cost of homes I think has to do with the numbers of people in a place. There are only so many houses, no matter if there is 5 or 500 people competeing for them.

Speaking from experience, you'd be surprised how salaries are not adjusted for CA housing.  If there is a drop off in wages in other states, it's very slight.  The cost of homes in CA had more to do with speculation than simple supply and demand.

TRUTH!

I wouldn't live in the Baltimore/Washington DC metro area if it wasn't for the work.

The taxes here suck.

This "trend" always occurs in hard economic times and reverses when times are better. The drop off number is somewhat modest compared to California's most recent flight.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

Unfucking believable. One of the richest states in the country and Da World. And the guy says it's because of the taxes and the ilegal immigrants.

Dude, if you hate the state so much move to some place like West Virginia, where you'll be able to buy a huge house with a huge property (mountains and rivers included) while paying minimal taxes.

You'll be making $ 7.50 an hour for the rest of your life.

Dream on.

New York will soon follow CA and have to give everyone IOU's because the state is broke due to a dwindling tax base, insane social welfare spending, and higher numbers of people who dont pay any taxes and those who are able to avoid them.

Simple, cut off all the damn aid to illegals.  That includes medicare, schools, etc.  To make sure that they cannot fake their identity, have all the US citizens get an ID card that can't be bought and faked in your basement.  Bottom line is we piss away money in CA on illegals and they send the money back to Mexico.

Yep, I am one of several people I know that is moving his family from Mass. to NH or Maine.  I spent this weekend looking at several properties.

30 of the folks in my team ARE NOT from New York. The work, live and pay taxes in New York. And I can pretty much extend that to all of the city. Or is it that it's just JewYorkers and their move out of the city that count?
