haha well i agree the guy was just doing his job and what he is supposed to be prepared to do. BUT, it still is an accomplishment to be able to do all that with such precision. there have been attempts before to make an emergency landing in water, none succeeding like this.

No, but from what I understand if he would have had a wing hit the water on impact the plane would have cartwheeled and dimantled leaving alot of people dead.

So is the plane floating, or is the Hudson River not that deep?
No doubt about it...

If the plane goes down anywhere else in the metro area, then we're talking about major loss of life, both on the plane and among people on the ground.

that's my opinion as well

2 birds strike 2 engines at the same time and the engines go out  ::)

and the manufacturers said they had made engines that with stood bird strikes

but can you imagine a flock of 100 birds hitting an airplane?  :o

Hahaha....gotta love all these virtual pilots here :D

What are the chances for one engine to fail? Imagine the number of flights everyday, and how often there are engine failures...Exactly, it is ridiculously small...
Now, what are the chances that BOTH engines, working independently, fail at the EXACT same time just because of "poor" maintenance?

Big birds can easily cause an engine failure, so why is it so hard to believe that flying through a flock of birds would shut both engines?

And the manufacturers saying that their engines can handle bird strikes is complete bullshit...
