Whopatooli parties were big in high school.  We'd get a big, plastic (new) garbage can and fill it up with orange juice, pineapple juice, grapefruit juice, 7 up, etc. and everyone would bring a "bottle" of their choice of liquor and dump it in.  It never tasted the same, but always like "punch" - not booze and it would sneak up on ya and knock you on your a$$ butt  ;D

??? no, but it sounds baaaddd  ;D

I used to have a friend who would take a BIG jar of marachino cherries and dump out the juice and refill it with vodka, then let the jar sit for 6 months.  Then she'd pass the jar around the campfire  ;D

The vodka in the watermelon was something like this:  Cut a small hole in a watermelon and turn a vodka bottle upside down so it slowly (maybe hours or days?  I never made it myself) leeches into the watermelon until the bottle is empty.  Then cut the watermelon into little pieces and eat.  Very dangerous as there is no alcohol taste  :o

Thank you very much.  Moses never really made an impact until he was 40, so there is still hope for me.

All I know is that tomorrow night, the wife, daughter, and grandkids are meeting with me at Cici's (a pizza buffet restaurant).  Even though I am paying, the kids think they are taking me out for my birthday.   :)

You know how they always went to "Mount Pilot"?
It's actually Pilot Mountain.

Very true...actually, some of the names on the show are based on cities in NC...Lawsonville (Floyd Lawson), Taylorsville (Andy, etc.) are two examples.  "Mayberry" is loosely based on Mt. Airy, NC, even though that town lies in the western part of the state near the Virginia border.  They never come out and say exactly where "Mayberry" is, but based on its proximity to Raleigh and Currituck, it seems to be in the east.

Can anyone remember the one time the city of Greensboro (where I live) was mentioned?

The title of the episode is "Bargain Day"...best moments for me are Aunt Bee making sure she is wearing gloves while dragging a wagon full of meat across town while being pursued by hungry dogs...and Andy continually yelling, "Call the MAN!!  Call the MAN!!"

Apparently so!  :D

You can catch reruns on TVLand or one of those vintage TV stations.

Jack Nicholson was a guest once.

He was actually a guest twice (both somewhat forgettable because they were "color" episodes)...the one you showed was when Aunt Bee was a juror (typical sitcom plot of one lone juror eventually convincing the other 11 that the defendant is innocent)...on one episode, Opie and his friend Arnold found an abandoned baby, which the parents (with Jack as husband) came back and claimed...pretty cheesy that Andy didn't throw them both in jail and have the baby put into foster care.
