Good advice Gene.

Let us know if we can pray for you also (I will pray for you anyway)

I found this that might be helpful (from gotquestions.org):

Question: "What is the proper way to pray?"

Answer: Is it best to pray standing up, sitting down, on your knees, or bowing down? Should my hands be open, closed, or lifted up to God? Do my eyes need to be closed when I pray? Is it better to pray in a church building or out in nature? Should I pray in the morning when I get up or at night before I go to bed? Are there certain words that I need to say in my prayer? How do I begin my prayer? What is the proper way to close a prayer? These questions, and others, are common questions we receive about prayer. What is the proper way to pray? Do any of the above things even matter?

Far too often, prayer is viewed as some form of “magic formula.” If you do not say exactly the right things, or pray in the right position, God will not hear and answer your prayer. This is completely unbiblical. God does not answer our prayers based on when we pray, where we are, what position our body is in, or in what order we word our prayers. First John 5:14-15 tells us, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us — whatever we ask — we know that we have what we asked of Him.” Similarly, John 14:13-14 declares, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” According to these and many other Scriptures, God answers prayer requests based on whether they are asked according to His will and in the name of Jesus (to bring glory to the Father).

So, what is the proper way to pray? Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” The proper way to pray is to pour out your heart to God. Be honest and open with God, as He already knows you better than you know yourself. Present your requests to God, but keep in mind that God knows what is best and will not grant a request that is not His will for you. Express your love, gratitude, and worship to God in prayer, but do not worry about having just the right words to say. God is more interested in the content of your heart than the quality of your words.

The closest the Bible comes to giving a “pattern” for prayer is the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13. Please understand, though, the Lord’s Prayer is not a prayer we are to memorize and recite to God. It is an example of the things that should go into a prayer—worship, trust in God, requests, confession, protection, etc. Pray for the things the Lord’s Prayer talks about, but use your own words and “customize” it to your own journey with God. The proper way to pray is by expressing your heart to God. Sitting, standing, or kneeling; hands open or closed; eyes opened or closed; in a church, at home, or outside; at morning or at night – these are all side issues, subject to personal preference, conviction and appropriateness. God’s desire is that prayer be a personal and real connection between us and Him.

Adrien, you may want to consider posting your leg symptoms etc. on the Injury Board here..or even on the G & O until it gets moved.  There are actually a lot of knowlegable and helpful people here!  In fact, you may want to post it on G & O and ask the mods to please not move it for a day or so.  You'll probably get both helpful answers as well as some funny ones.

As for your stretch mark, don't let that bother you..there are creams and laser treatments you can always use depending upon when you get the funds.  Meanwhile, you may want to rub some "Mederma" on it as that is supposed to help.  Also Retin-A I think but I think you may need a prescription for that stuff.  Mederma is over the counter.

You are only 20.  You can always go back to school and finish!  Some people get their GED's in their 50's and 60's!   Go back to school if you can it may give you some hope and help your self-esteem.

Why do you say your parents hate you?

I would quit "sacrificing my life" to bodybuilding if I were you but that is just my opinion.

Also in my opinion I think you are on the right track wanting to talk to God about your situation.  Do you know much about Jesus?

First thanks for your advice.

About my leg problem I see a doctor twice a week but nobody really know but we're working on it.

My parent hate me because of my choice of life. I'm from europ Switzerland and bodybuilding isnt very famous like in the Usa. So they hate me because I don't do what they want me to do and they think bodybuilding it's just about drugs. Its complicated.

I don't know that much about god but I want to know more about him.

Thanks for care about me that's mean a lot trust me.

I don't think your parents hate you.  I don't have kids but I think some parents may get disappointed in their children if they don't follow the path that the parents would choose for them.  I think your parents love you but they may be angry or frustrated w/you.  Of course I don't know any of you but I don't think your parents hate you.  Maybe they just don't understand you at this time.

A lot of people will have a fascination w/bodybuilding that is passing.  Maybe that is true in your case.  We can have different interests at different times.  But maybe it is your dream.  Do you think you have the genetics to do well?

You say you've lost friends over bodybuilding.  Why do you feel this way?

I really think you should start a thread about what is going on w/your leg.  If you don't want to start it on G & O or Injury Board, would you please post here in this thread about it?

Do you have access to a bible?  If not, please consider buying one.  I would suggest you start by reading the book of John which is in the New Testament.   Some other Christians here may have other ideas of where you should start or other books that may help.  I also may suggest a Max Lucado book to you if you are interested.

I'm praying for you Adrien.  Did you pray yet?

As I work for money and I study at the evening and even train at the afternoon I don't have much time for friends but that's ok, Im kinda lonley guys anyway.

About my legs problem it's kinda complicated (hope my english is ok)

It started 2 years ago I used to have some pain in my legs (right or left) especially in the hipe and butt.

The pain come and go so I went to see doctor they tought it was a sciatic nerve problem or Ernia so I did IRM and a lot of radio at the hospital but they didnt find anything now it still hurting a lot depending on everyday so I take some painkiler like tramadol but I cant go to the gym.

I hope Im clear.

I started pray yesterday in my bed and again thanks a lot I really didn't know what to except when I post here but thanks you a lot very very thanks.

When our interests change our friends may change also.  Have you made any friends that are interested in fitness/bodybuilding?

That's weird because I was having a terrible pain in my hip area and butt a while back.  Sometimes I would limp and when I went to take off my shoe (by using my other foot) the pain was pretty intense.   I bought new shoes just in case that was part of the problem and I also used a foam roller - that I learned about here from "The Coach" on the injury board.  After several months the pain finally went away.  Still not sure what it was but if I had to travel in a car or plane it was very uncomfortable and depressing.  I hope you get well soon.

I hope Im clear.

Yes, you're fine :)

I started pray yesterday in my bed and again thanks a lot I really didn't know what to except when I post here but thanks you a lot very very thanks.

I tend to pray all day and night sporadically, when things come to my mind.  Also when I am grateful for things I try to thank God about them when I think about them.

Yes, this place can be kind of wild at times but there are good people and there is good information here.

Here in Geneva, there are not a lot of bodybuilder nor bodybuilding fan.

People dont like this here.

About my legs problem we also think it's the piraformus that may push the sciatic nerve but since that I've been doing a lot of streching like hell and now I can almost put my legs over my head.  :) but the pain still stand.

I also did a lot of blood work to see if there was any infection, but the result were negativ. On monday I have to see my therapist for massage and on wensday I'm going to see my doctor again. (I'm gonna ask him if we can do another IRM may be)

About god yeah I take time today to begin to ready the bible. (thanks for the help)

I don't know what to do about bodybuilding now but when my legs will be better I'm sure I'll be able to take the good desicion.

Again and again thanks for your help and all the things u've done and you are doing for me. It means a lot really.

Please keep us updated on your leg and also on your state of mind and how your bible study is going.

Feel free to start threads here regarding any questions you may have regarding God, religions, etc.  There are some very informed people here that post here pretty often like loco and MCWAY.

read your bible, it will help you a lot and it will answer your questions if you have an open mind and heart. if you have trouble understanding what is being written in the bible ask your mom, she will be more than glad to help you being that she offered you the bible as a gift. Im sure it will please her to know that you are taking steps to understanding what she deperately wants you to know. prayer can be done anywhere at anytime. read your bible and ask questions.
also dont make bodybuilding your life, youre robbing yourself of everything else. youre limiting your potential with your obsession with bodybuilding. education is much more important for your life. weights will always be there. you are being very short sighted with regards to what you need. you are only 20, a lot can be done still to improve yourself.
