Welfare goes back to the New Deal and is classic social liberalism. Don't blame Bush for that. Republicans have been trying to get rid of that for decades and it was only welfare reform pushed by the Republican congress that was one of the reasons Clinton got reelected.

Bank bail outs? You are absolutely correct. Painfully so. But what was the vote break down between Repubs and Dems? Yes, there are a few conservatives in name only and Bush was wrong, wrong, wrong. Conservative republicans were screaming against this. It was wrong. Not just wrong but it promotes the very thing that caused this. Who the F is going to bail me or you out doing hard times? This was so wrong and it makes me angry. But would a Dem have done differently? Obama? He supported it. Democrats believe in it and the Republicans that supported it were cowards.

Patriot Act? Tell me friend, and I mean specifically, what civil rights have you or anybody you know have lost due to the Patriot Act? Who has been illegally wire tapped? Are you against wire tapping? That's how we got Gotti.
What laws were broken? Be specific. We're in a war you know. With people that want to kill you and me. Kill your wife, kids and destroy our culture and are willing to die to do so. We can't allow people to bring bombs on airplanes anymore.
