The Venice scene of today is a sad and pathetic sham.

Just a crazy and overcrowded circus of lurkers and wannabee-nobodies.

Apart from Charles Glass and a handful of 2nd tier pros and amateurs, the place is just an overcrowded wasteland of fat losers who are trying to tap into a false dream of a past era!

Oh yeah, Cormier ducks his big melon head in from time to time...that is, if you still call him a pro! Hmmm.

Yes, Venice is no more!

I go to Black Diamond (in South Central LA on Crenshaw blvd near Slauson Avenue) now. The equipment is @#$%^&ty as the mens' room but it is what it is..and its 20 bucks a month!!!! NO CONTRACTS NO COMMITMENT!!!! The Mecca is dead now only personal trainers well this week it should have plentu of IFBBers and the equipment is the best but its nothing like the 90's when Flex , Chris, Vicki Sims, Rutkowski, Jim Quinn and co where there.....I miss them days now.

Venice enjoyed a 'mini revival' back in the '90's....Titus, Melvin, Chick, Shawn, Flex etc.

Yes, Arnold and his midget mate Franco put in on the map....or should i say the producers of Pumping Iron are responsible for that!

Bottom line, Venice is a stinking shit hole.

It now trades off a contrived legacy.

It's always crowded and noisy. It has an horrendous ambience. A totally life sapping experience.

Just a walk through that shit hole leaves you gasping. A mecca for sleaze, debauchery, illicit drugs and profanity.

I went there and it was a total bust. No bodybuilding scene at all. Just a bunch of tourists and swarthy Italians pimping boat rides on stinky canals.

Something has to be good in the first place in order for it to decline. Venice never fit that category, well maybe back in the 1950's. It has and always will be a shit hole no matter how many of the store owners on Abbot Kinney wish it not be.

Hank is correct. Gold's Venice and the Venice scene pretty much fell apart when Pete, Ed ,and Tim sold Gold's to corporate bean counters in 1999 (?).

The early and mid-90's were awesome.

Gold's Venice is still an excellent gym, it's just that the bodybuilding scene in Venice is deader than disco. Kind of makes me sad. Think I'll go buy an 8-Ball to cheer myself up.

That piece of shit Venice gym is always so f*cking crowded! Whether you drag your ass in there at 7am or rock up there all wired at 10.30pm the place is full of f*cktards.

Yes f*cktards flock to this so-called Mecca. It is like flypaper.

Avoid this place like the plague. It is noisy and overcrowded. Most of the time you have to wait for the decent equipment.

And yes, there are steroided-over-compensaters everywhere.

On a positive note, i suppose it is good for a laugh. There are scores of the Bob-Chic-style-roiders...who just walk the gym floor looking for meaningless-attention and hollow-praise!

A true melting pot of retards, losers, hanger-ons, drug dealers, addicts, loners, the homeless and those who believe in the falsity of farcical dreaming!
