Woops...
I must have copied the wrong URL clip for the football vignette.
Here's the right one:

I’d read a couple of different stories – some relating to Curt’s injury.
Personally, I suspect it came down to a combination of things including VKM tightening his purse strings, Curt’s best friend Rick Rude’s influence, and Turner’s money.

There were several guys the old man should never have let go, but Hennig was (one of) the biggest.

And you’re absolutely right.
Curt never had to “reinvent” himself because neither the character – nor the man – ever got old.

I prefered their summerslam match. I'll never forget that vindikette when he first started when he through himself a hail mary pass with a football and cought it...lol...classic.  ;D

Although it has no sound, this is a nice compilation of Hennig Highlights:

Who here has WWE's The Life and Times of Mr. Perfect DVD?

Opinions?

IMO Curt Henning should have never have gone to WCW. He lost his trademarked Mr.Perfect gimmick. He just wasn't the same and they really didn't know how to use him at all. A guy with Hennings talant they could have done so much more with him. But that's typical WCW. WCW was only good for one thing. $$$.

My girlfriend got me the Mr. Perfect DVD for Christmas.
I just watched Disc 1 tonight and was very pleased.
Good interviews with his Dad and family, etc.
Some of Wade Boggs’ stories were especially moving.
I enjoyed the home video footage & private album photos.

I'm still curious as to why they didn’t so much as mention his close friendship with Rick Rude. ???

All in all, though, great DVD!

I still haven't seen that DVD. They probably didn't know how close Rude and Henning were.

Curt’s Dad & wife (widow) knew this, and I can’t imagine it didn’t come up at some point.

It was common knowledge even among many casual wrestling fans that Curt & Rick were buds. I’m not asking them to devote a whole additional disc to the two, but a simple acknowledgement would have been nice.
It would have fit nicely when they mentioned Robinsdale H.S.

Ya that is pretty strange. Who knows. Still bugs me to know that those two are dead. They were two of my favorites.

Always felt the WCW really missed the mark in not making Hennig a Horseman instead of that shitty nWo turn.  He would have been a "perfect" fit.  ;D

I wonder if Curt had any say in that.
He was, quite literally, a perfect fit for the whole ethos that the original Horsemen concept embodied.

So, they put “Mongo” in the 4-H, but sent Hennig to become member #62 of the NWO.

I suppose I wouldn’t have minded if the NWO had less than 6 or so guys when Hennig joined.
But, considering that over 2/3 of the WCW main roster was either Black & White or Wolfpac, no…
Curt deserved to be (and should have been placed) with the elite.

However, seeing how WCW management used Bret, it’s not at all surprising what they did with C.H.

Funny story about Curt.  A couple of buddies of mine went to see a Nitro and ended up at the same bar afterwards as a bunch of the wrestlers.  Curt was there and they struck up a conversation, later as the beers were flowing, one of them asked him "What do you do if you miss the gum?"  His deadpan response was an incredulous "I never miss."  ;D

LOL!!!
That sounds exactly like what he’d say.
Lots of guys have said he really was good at a lot of things.

About the gum..
I remember one time seeing him almost miss.
It looked like a faulty “launch” from his mouth.
At the last second, he bent his arm in at the elbow and got his forearm up to make the hit.

If Monsoon was around, he would have said something like, “Perfect, now, blasting the gum with that brachioradialis.”

Nothing beat the promo where he litterally through himself a hail Mary and caught it.

LOL!!!

I think that may have been the only of the original vignettes that were edited.
Although, if given enough practice, he probably could have done it!

Plaboy,
Did you see the Mr. Perfect DVD?

No...unfortunately not yet. I want to see it though. Henning was always one of my all time favorites. Still bothers me today that he's gone  :-\ Way before his time.
