Yet another thread will "Coach" will come in, make a politically polarizing comment, and then scurry out like the little rodent he is without justifying his statement.

Compared to 8.5 Trillion in bailouts under Bush?

At least this money will do something besides line the pockets of bank executives...

Explain why this thread is :

1 - Not in the political forum
2 - Has a cell phone icon.  Did Obama just call you and inform you of this?
3 - Why anyone gives a shit about your opinion.

Coach,

I know you are pro republican but we are going to be screwed under Dems or Reps. The problem is neither one can stop spending money.  Dems want to spend money on tons of social programs and bailouts.  Reps want to spend money on war, antiterrorism, and they also support the bailouts.  Dems want regulatation and Reps don't, I personally don't believe in regulatation BUT I also believe in letting these banks and companies fail when they can't make it.  Both Dems and Reps talk about increasing security but no one want to talk about strict immigration reform.

Here's what I personally believe but neither party will ever come around to this...
1. Free enterprise (including the schools) - No bailouts, if a company makes bad business decisions if fails
2. Flat tax or national sales tax
3. Do away with most government social programs (welfare, EIC, etc.)
4. Strong military with strong immigration control
5. Stop being the police of the world and concentrate on our own country.
6.  I think that anything should be legal as long as it does not infringe on someone else’s rights.

Off the top of my head, this $ wouldn't be needed if you hadn't been fighting a bogus, failed war for the past 8 years. Total costs of such an endeavour are gonna top out at over 3 billion. Chump change for the SoCal golf set, tho.  ;)

Actually, part of the stimulus is LOWERING the taxes.

Did you even bother to check the stimulus deal bro?

IMO, I think the infrastructure surge will be the most effective. It will also give USA a much needed make-over as several parts have been allowed to disintegrate into 3rd world like state in some areas.
It will be great. USA will be the land of the future just like in the 50's.8)

perhaps this is the year when USA bounced back. In 10 years we may look back on this year as the start of a throw back to the haydays of USA.

exactly. you have no idea just how detrimental the Bush/neocon administration has been for this country and the world. now we have a chance to rebuild everything. i can only imagine how different thing would have been had Gore got a handful more votes in florida :'(

Its cheaper than the democrat welfare plan.  Deal with it.  ZERO and Pelosi are spending more on welfare in this bill alone than the cost of Iraq.

Democrats are freaking joke.

Your steps are common sense.  Obama and Pelosi are 1000000% against any common sense at all with this  trillion dollar welfare plan.

Good job you clowns in voting for this jerk.  ZERO is going to make Bush look like Scrooge.

I don't know if you're correct on that one.

There have been estimates that the total cost of the war could land over two TRILLION dollars.

Check this link and see what you think.

I will use the CBO.  Go check out their site.  This is TRILLION DOLLAR WELFARE PLAN!

all the liberal screaming and stamping their feet about the cost of Iraq is now right out the window with this welfare program!.

Congratulations you suckers who voted for this clown.

Exactly.  You guys must realize this package is far more expensive than the whole Iraq war....and we're not even sure what effect it will have.  This will significantly increase our already immense debt and increase the tax payment each year.  Plus...we have to pay it back sometime.  So, our taxes will go up after the economy stabilizes, which should piss us all off...or our kids will be paying for this plan.

This stimulus should focus on tax cuts and possibly infrastructure spending only.  Nothing else.  We have to cut spending and reduce our trade deficits or else we will never reverse our direction.

The war was a huge deal (and mistake IMO) but the economy was crumbling without the war...at least the banks.  Some republicans made congress aware of the financial issues in 2006, but it was ignored.  Don't fall into the hip trap of blaming everything on Bush (he did not help the situation with all his spending) but it is much more complicated and more broad.  Bush did not do anything to cause the banks, housing market and lending institutions to fail.  Thats our main problem and what started everything.
