Dexter is a poor man's Shawn Ray, only with much bigger delts, much harder and thicker/drier back. Shawn's Shape is better though, with better calves, might look a tad small next to Dexter though.

So essentially you're saying Dexter's only beating him in about 5 or 6 areas Ray never impressed; usually lacked hardness & deep cuts, carried water and had no width. Also too small standing next to others. Wheeler was better than Ray.

Small compared to others who were as or more deserving of an Olympia during that time.

its simple in the dex/ray comparision ,dex is very good,but to compare in the scheme of things ray was a lightheavyweight at 20 fully pro material while dex was a batamweight early yrs,the knock on ray is he only gained 10/or so lbs in all those yrs,but u could see as yrs went on he got harder,deeper musculature he didn't have at 21.he was unreal at 21 .

That would apply to most BBs actually, even more so to guys with decent height that he didn't have.

This was actually the first bodybuilding show that I ever attended.  I went in pretty sure that Yates would win easily, but Shawn Ray was just amazing that day.  Yates had raucous support from the audience, of course, but when Ray was going through his compulsories, you could hear a pin drop, save for the intermittent (and perhaps cliched) "audible gasps".  He had amazing things happening in his back musculature, in particular.

My father was with me that day, and he thought that Nasser won, hands-down.   I thought Yates looked better than Nasser overall, but I just couldn't believe how sharp Ray was.  The two physiques (Ray and Yates) were so different that I thought a win by either would have been acceptable, BUT it was a little strange that Yates and Nasser were separated in the placings.  When compared to those two, Ray was such a different animal that day that it's hard to imagine how he didn't finish either first or third.

there was a feature in muscular development a few years back where they compared richard jones and shawn rays physiques body part by bodypart and shawn rays wiast supposedly measured 34 inches. considering hes at most 5 ft 7in thats relatively big yet it looks tiny compared to his overall physique.  hes the only one out of the three doing the front double biceps that can perform a vacuum pose. def have him ahead of dexter jackson for overall balance

now take a look at that joke called phillip heath....and yuo will find what happened to bodybuilding,,

jason cutler and philip heath took it way too far ,,phillip heth unlike jason can pull it off but you can already tell he look like shit torso is too sall in relashion to arms,,it is NOT how bodybuilding should be

No...his arms are More Oily...not better.... there is a difference. In fact I would sum up our era vs. the 90s as following...

Todays competitors are not better, or even bigger, they are more filled with oil.

dexter has the drugs look, hes filled with whatever garbage is obtainable nowadays , shawn has the old skool bodybuilding look, build on basic steroids and hard training and nutrition. the difference to a non pleasant and a pleasant look.
