These two have faced off a few times, with Chris placing better at the 2004 Olympia shown below.

I think that Vic has an ever so slight edge on Chris overall.  However, I also feel that Chris could have won the Arnold multiple times and probably the Olympia once or twice if he would have kept focus.  Chris and Vic don't lack for anything.

well...we'll find out in the next 2-3 yrs because he'll have to take it to another level with phil's O trophies almost in the bank.

You can see there quite clearly that Vic had an advantage in arms and delts, while Cormier was leaner. Cormier's arms like the rest of him were nothin exciting.

As far as their relative placings take that with a grain of salt, the contests are rife with politics and an old hand and favorite would naturally get a higher placing.

I don't think anybody in the public really has much of an idea of what Vic will look like come the Arnold in early March.  There are no videos or pics of Vic circulating around the net.  That said, it looks as if he has recovered from the leg injury.  I think he will take the Arnold with a good showing.  Kai?  Please!

Problem is, Vic has to prove himself all over again since he has been out of competition for a full year a half.  He will go into the Olympia and compete against a well-rested Phil Heath.

Chris doesn't get enough credit as a hardcore bodybuilder.  The guy may have had a partying lifestyle and screwed up on his diet/contest-prep...but he did not train like a pussy!  Few bodybuilders trained as heavy as Chris.

7 days out of the 2004 O, he's doing hacks with 8 plates a side and the leg press machine maxed out on plates!  Dude was an animal.  If he could have kept the extracurriculars under control, he would have taken the Arnold a few times and maybe an Olympia or two.  Bottom line is that Chris liked to party and have fun...nothing wrong with that.

Most all the time there were a couple of guys better than Cormier, the hype on him was tremendous. I don't believe for a minute that he didn't reach his potential, he just wasn't good enough to be great in relation to others.

Vic has greater potential, the big thing is the determination to get really lean, something he hasn't done much of yet.

Phil looks great compared with smaller bodybuilders and when he is standing alone, but he will have trouble when matched up with the wider bodybuilders like Victor.  Let's face it, the Olympia lineup this year was weak with an out-of-shape Jay Cutler and no Vic or Kai.  Dennis also missed his peak pretty badly.  Phil will have a tougher road this year.

I don't get it when you guys say Vic hasn't been in good shape very often.  The dude brings shredded glutes and hams to every contest.  Is this not "getting lean"?

I think Vic will go down as the more successful bodybuilder.  Chris had the whole package, but he was facing tougher lineups back during the mid-90s into the early 2000s.  Vic is wiping up guys nowhere close to Flex, Paul, Ronnie, Dorian, Shawn, Nasser, etc.  Chris had to face the best of the best.

chris' BS kept him from the O...just a better package than vic.

Chris had some opportunities to take it:

- He got "sick" during an appearance down in Mexico a few weeks before the 2000 Olympia and had withdraw, Ronnie looked good but many people thought Kevin Levrone (2nd) could have taken the show.

- Chris showed up in less-than-stellar condition at the 2002 Olympia and placed 3rd behind Kevin Levrone (who had small legs) and Ronnie (who was flat as a pancake).  I think this is where Chris really missed a great opportunity to take the title.

Chris was money at the 1999 Olympia and could have placed 2nd, ahead of Flex.

Chris hands down. Vic's a walking oil can.

Agreed.

I also think Cormier is more aesthetic and balanced. Vic looks like he shit his pants in some poses, like he's wearing a diaper... can't explain it better... the legs look short in some poses, like the back db.  :D

Cormier , for those who don't have a clue about bb, is the most complete and symetric bb of the 90's. Vic is oil filled, awkward, shitty when opens uo, long torso short legs, and it can go on and on. Chris wins by a country mile

I think Shawn Ray and Chris were the most complete guys in the 90s, with Chris having an edge in height (which does matter).  Chris wasn't missing anything...he had the entire package.

Chris looked incredible at the 2001 Ironman.

Actually they both fall short in some ways. Cormier never had the superstar quality, no great areas nor were his aesthetics as good as someone like Vic. Vic rarely is as sharp as someone with greater motivation would be.

Cormier had the type of physique where you could visually keep adding muscle to him. He could have easily carried 270 pounds on him and look like a beast. Whereas Vic, has maxed out. He's already got the gut.
