any kind of glyceride(note the "ide" ending) is a glycerol molecyle that has any kind of alifatic carbon chain bonded to any of it's alcohol groups, it has 3 of those thus the posibility for mono, di and tri- glycerides
edit: most "fats" as we know them have a glycerol skeleton, the whole trans/cis and saturated/mono/polyunsaturated fats craze are about those types of fats
we have 2 other kind of major fats in our bodies, phospholipids that are very important in cellmembranes, and cholesterol, which is the base skeleton for a whole host of hormones, as you probably allready know
