Stimulus Bill costs a bit less than the iraq War
« on: February 02, 2009, 05:16:02 AM »
Wow... now i see how big this bill actually is.

The only difference is that all the Iraq $ went to war contractors with the only return on investment being blown up buildings and dead people, theirs and ours.

This $ plan gives the $ to energy, healtcare, education, and job growth.  The longterm needs of the country that have been neglected for 8 years.

I don't like the idea of ANY bailouts, but let's be honest here - BOTH Obama and Bush CHOSE to inject our economy with a trillion dollar nut.  The only difference was, Obama is keeping the $ in-house, and Bush sent the money out of the USA.

My first reaction is that they will - once they get their own state pork added.

The two are close, nonetheless - the cost of the war vs. this stimuls package.  i do like the fact that IF it must be spent, it's staying in our borders, and not being handed to haliburton to give bad water to our men in iraq.

Your wrong 240.  This bill is greater than the Iraq and Afghanastan wars.  Its up to nearly 900 billion dollars now.  There was something on CNN recently putting this amount of money in perspective.  No one is talking about what this does to our existing debt and interest payments.  We are dooming ourselves to higher taxes and debt passed on to our kids.

Dude, if you are a real conservative in any sense, you should be outraged by the house's pork laiden package.

I am.  I was outraged at Bush's irresponsible spending, and I don't like this either.  My point is that I'm at least happy the $ is staying inside US borders and not being shoveled to haliburton.

What are the rough totals (Iraq + Afghan costs vs. bill totals)?

Please, you are a complete basket case.  This is all pork and endless govt spending that will last forever and ever.

Do you know that they are undoing 1996 welfare reform that clinton signed in this bill??????????????

"Do you know that they are undoing 1996 welfare reform that clinton signed in this bill"

What specifically do you mean 333386?  I missed this...

I don't doubt the senate package will be somewhat different but overall its too much spending and too many in the wrong places.  We need to eliminate the payroll tax for a period of time.  That should be a top priority.  It helps everyone that works and helps employers as well.
There is way too much non-stimulus spending and its inexcusable.  The gov is in this position partly because of too much spending and we want to spend our way out with even more spending?

No one is talking about the consequences of the immense national debt that will be significantly increased with this trillion dollar bill.

Look it up, there is a loop hole in the bill that grants the states unlimited money for welfare, which is what the 1996 welfare bill accomplished.

I will post it later.  Trust me, this is leaking out, they are trying to undo 1996 welfare reform.
