If I become a Democrat I don't have to pay my taxes, right?
« on: February 04, 2009, 05:50:17 PM »
I've been a lifelong Reagan Republican but for the first time in my life I'm actually considering becoming a Democrat. It's become obvious that there isn't a Democrat in this country that pays their taxes and I'm questioning whether remaining a Republican and being right on all the issues is actually worth the expense of paying all those taxes that the Democrats get to avoid.

In addition, our two past Democratic Vice Presidents (Gore and Biden) gave about $3.50 a year in charitable contributions and taking my level down to theirs would save me about an additional grand a year.  Between the taxes and charitable contribution money I'd save by becoming a donkey I'd be saving some serious money. Of course I'd have to live with all the negative stereotypes that come along with actually being a white male single Christian Democrat (gay, tree hugger, socialist, anti-gun, atheist, bitter, angry, hippie, etc.) but having all that extra money may just make it worth it.

We're getting back to the good old days of "taxation without representation."

Case in point:  Our "representatives" in Washington ignored the voice of the majority of US citizens when it came to the recent financial and auto industry bailouts.  Those arrogant fuckers pushed it through anyway against the wishes of the people they were elected to "represent."  The only thing they "represent" is their own interests and obviously they know better than the people they're supposed to be representing.  How do mental cases like Reid and Pelosi rise to positions of such power anyway?

Geeze.  I'm in a pissy mood lately.  Maybe I need a break from this forum for a weekend.
