Bobber, do you think Nasser could ever reproduce this?

He's retired and moved on now, however of all the top pros of his time he is currently the closest in size to his old form than they are

sorry Nasser, King Ron owns you - even if your calves are better.

like everyone else, Ronnie crushes you from the knees up.

From the front in the MM Nasser has no flaws, Ronnie has weak calves and abs both.

my friend i would respectfully disagree. nasser is in no way crushed. i think he looks better. coleman's traps look crazy (i never seen them actually look like that in the flesh and they almost are too big they destroy the balance) but his lack of any calves at all really lets down the pose. it a pose that is meant to have no weak part and they do look terrible. still, i have much respect for ronnie.

i just won't accept 'crushed'

x2.  Great comparison by a great poster :)

I have lots of respect for Ronnie but from head to toe in the MM pose Nasser is better.

but Ronnie was oil free.

Nasser was not.

big difference there.

ronnie's detail crushes Nasser's too, probably as a result of all the WD40 he used... :-\

Not always, hon.  When Ronnie was still finding his niche, Nasser beat him fair n' square in a few shows.

But once Ronnie "got with the program," so to speak, I think his body outshined Nasser's in nearly every pose and from every angle.

Mind you, Shane, I know you're busy "taking the piss out of" the Nasser worshippers :)  That's cool and I'm not about to change your mind.  But darlin', come on ... you know as well as I that Nasser, good as he was over 10 years ago, is -- especially given his complaining, or -- dare I say?  -- bitching?!?! -- the man is little more than a sore-loser these days.

Y'know, like all those months after Adam Abeles lost the first "Mr. Getbig," and all of the whining that ensued.  He was sooooo upset and insecure, raising hell like there was no tomorrow.  It was embarrassing that a so-called "grown man" would flip out like that; but then, as I've said from day one, "men" turn into boys at the first sign of life's trouble(s).

I used to like Nasser.  I attended some of the Olympias at which he had a legitimate shot at the title, but he never quite measured up.  He was literally stunning in the front biceps pose, but aside from that ... he lost it, even in the year he flunked the diuretics test (which was his best chance).

By 1998, Ronnie found the proper balance of size, propoprtion and conditioning.  Was he as "complete" as Nasser?  Actually, YES, he was:  Nasser had incredible delts, calves and hamstrings, but his upper back still looked like garbage compared to Ronnie (and to a lesser extent, Flex Wheeler).  Ronnie's weak calves were less of a liability than Nasser's underwhelming back.

No one seems to understand that Olympians aren't supposed to be ugly mofos like Nasser-chop off his head and he might have won. Looks and personality count.

lol @ Hulkster posting pics of Ronnie at one of his best showings (99 Olympia) with one of Nasser's worst.  I could stoop to your level and post comparisons of Nasser and Ronnie at the 95 NOC?  ::)

Your claim that Nasser looks bigger in the comparison above only due to oil (which you naively feel Ronnie never used) is comical.  He looks bigger there because he's about 20 lbs heavier than 99 Ronnie was.  There wouldn't be much size difference if you used 2003 Ronnie, however his abs and calves would still be missing :-\

Ronnie was exceptional in many poses and angles, but in the MM pose, from head to toe, Nasser at his best beats Ronnie at his bestm, overall.

I don't have the stamina to go back and fourth over physiques for years in a single thread like Hulkster, so i'll probably leave it at this :)

Ronnie wins here!? LOL. Look, Ronnie is the king but Nasser had indisputably superior calves - amazing! And, for the ND fans, Dorian had the same ones too.   :)

LMFAO you think someone who can't converse much other than "yeaahhh buddy!  light weight!  yep yep!" counts as having "personality"??

Ronnie came to my city before and the promoter was pretty unimpressed after with his personality, saying he barely said a word during the long drive from the airport to the supplement store, even though the promoter kept trying to converse.  At one point while he was talking Ronnie simply picked up his phone and started dialing as though the promoter did not exist :)  I got a photo and tried talking to him too but he didn't say much else than, "yeaaap!"  At the end, when the promoter asked for a photo he even charged him $15! LOL!  Keep in mind this is after he paid him thousands to show up and went out of his way to give him free clothes from his store too.  Meanwhile the promoter invited Nasser 3 times over the years and has nothing but positive things to say of his personality.

Ronnie always crushed Nasser..

Ronnie - 8
Nasser - 0 (should have gotten at least one)

Nasser was good for a very short period of time and abused his body with oil and drugs.  The fact that he still stays so large is not impressive to me.  For Nasser's supposedly impressive intellect, why did he compete past his prime and why does he still take bodybuilding drugs?  Why did he put synthol everywhere, which made his physique deteriorate quickly?  Why did his gut start hanging over so dramatically?  Why? why? why?

Not really worth it to discuss further if people start bringing in faces as part of  it  -although, Nasser has a very strong, Arabic face that is very noble.

it is not meant to be faces or personality, simply the best body, or best in a pose. The most muscular is one where the whole body is assessed - the overall muscularity, the most muscular. all parts are important and Coleman loses simply on the grounds of his pitiful calves.

it is Nasser all the way. Like I said. EVERYTHING is perfect, symmetrical and developed to it's fullest extent within the framework of the overall aesthetic.
ronnie doesnt even look like he ever did one set of calf raise. calves ARE important for this.

Things I like about Nasser:

- successful financially, knew how to make money off bodybuilding
- one of the original freaks
- no weak body parts
- multilingual
- cultured, educated, more intelligent than other pro bodybuilders
- has class
- better bodybuilder overall than Dorian Yates and should have won the 1997 Olympia
- lighthearted with good sense of humor
- put out many training videos, a great way to give his fan base opportunities to see him train and make money at the same time
- gratuitous most muscular shots in posing routines

Things I dont like about Nasser:

- Physique went downhill horribly and he continued competing after the 2000 Olympia
- Put synthol EVERYWHERE
- Distended gut with abs...looked awful
- Took the size game too far
- only competed at the highest level for a short period of time; did not have great longevity
- Lost his taper and became very blocky
- trained with ridiculously light weights in precontest training
- had trouble controlling his gut
- still pumps chemicals into his body, even though he is no longer competing

Not a single flaw - even amazing abs and calves...perfect from the top to bottom - traps, delts, chest, arms, abs, quads and calves...MASSIVE and ripped to the bone.  Perfect glasses too!

Flaws = Male pattern balding, poor eyesight, syntholized delts/arms.

wrong.

Coleman bests Nasser in EVERY bodypart from the front except the abs and calves.

Nasser has inferior quads, pecs, arms, delts etc. and inferior detail too..

abs and calves don't make up for all that..

Great post Sharma, I would also like to add that Ronnie had weak abs as calves as well.  Nasser and Ronnie were both detailed mass monsters in the MM pose but Nasser had no flaws while Ronnie lacked abs and calves.  Simple as that.
