« on: February 14, 2009, 09:11:28 PM »
So I've augmented Jackel's sample cutting diet a bit to work around my schedule, budget and willpower :\
I'm just wondering if anyone more knowledgeable can critique it, how can i improve it.

Pertinent stats; 6'0 245 24% body fat, 30 mins of cardio on the stair master or elliptical a day and on my 2 off days 30 mins of each

Meal #1
6 Egg Whites
2 Whole Eggs
1 Cup Oatmeal or cream of wheat
1 piece of fruit(banana usually on the way to the gym)

Meal #2 (Post-Workout)
2 Scoops isopure Whey with juice(grape apple or pineapple)

Meal #3
1 Cup of Brown Rice or a Sweet Potato
8 oz Chicken Breast
either some asparagus or some broccoli

Meal #4
2 cans of tuna with brown rice

Meal #5
2scoop of isopure with juice

Meal #6
6 Egg Whites
2 Whole Eggs
1\2 Cup Oatmeal or cream of wheat

Meal #7

8 oz Chicken Breast
either some asparagus or some broccoli

Meal #4
2 cans of tuna with fat free mayo, mustard and some hot sauce
3 slices of wheat toast

Meal #5
scoop of isopure with juice
Slice of bread with peanut butter

Meal #6
Cup of tea
2 pieces of protein pancake with some peanut butter and honey

Meal #7
Cottage Cheese and a handfull of berries(black or blue usually)

id drop the honey and berries so late in the day-have a healthy fat w/ the cottage cheese-and i would use a diff carb source instead of bread w/ the tuna-maybe brown rice
id get rid of the bread w/ meal 5 too

maybe have the berries w/ breakfast instead of bananna
meal 5 i would prob do 2 scoop isopure

meal 6 id try to have more substanial protein-like some red meat or turkey or chicken

just my .02 cents

Quite honestly, the berries in his case aren't likely to make a difference one way or the other.  With a GI of of ~40, GL of ~~2, that ~half cup of nutrition outweighs the ~62 calories.

Doesn't sound like he's given the diet a chance yet.  Let's worry about changes if and when things aren't working  ;)

but if he eats berries late at night he might get breakouts on his face

I have something better for you

eat 2500 calories, get 300-400 grams of protein a day, eat whatever else you need to meet the 2500 calorie quota
adjust your calories as needed to lose weight, get 3-4 meals a day to satisfy hunger, 7 meals a day leaves you hungry all the time.

Thank you for the advice mate. For meal 6 i'll just have some eggs something akin to meal #1 with less oatmeal, and i'll start having some rice with the tuna.

i'll edit it to reflect what i'll be doing now, is that better?
looks good but i would add a healthy fat to meals 7 and 5-and id drop the juice w/ meal 5
