What to do while layed up from surgery?
« on: February 15, 2009, 02:08:51 PM »
Just wanted some advice on how i should eat while I'm layed up from surgery. My goal is to not put on too much fat. I know i am going to lose muscle but not sure how i should eat. How many meals a day? How much protein/carbs. I was eating six meals a day prior to surgery. Three shakes and three solid meals. Any advice would help.

I know that I've read that supplementing with creatine helps prevent muscle wasting for those wearing a cast for broken bones - so I'd recommend doing that.

Since you're going to be laying around and not getting much activity, you'll require much less energy.  So the first thing you should cut is carbohydrates.

cutting down on simple carbs especially near bed time, keeping the protein almost same helped me,occasional cheat meals are not going to do any harm depending on how long your resting, what kind of surgery did you have?
