I used to live right across the Charles from MIT and the kids they have going there are incredibly smart.  Between them and Harvard you have some of the greatest minds in the country being primed within 2 miles of each other.  Crazy shit.

Every degree has its value... of course there are some that are tougher than others,
in my opinion engineering is somewhat tougher than business and management degrees,
but of course its all up to the individual on how he uses it after he graduates..

You raise a point i was waiting to see if anyone else had asked yet. How many of you that have degrees actually work in the specific fields you studied in?

I know and come across so many people with degrees and PhDs who do nothing whatsoever related to their studies.

Me, i have a BSc hons in Zoology. I waited 5 years after i graduated to actually use it though. (and no, i don't work in a zoo)

Not exactly a great time to be a graduate. I might as well consider grad school.

I'm also graduating next fall with a BA in accounting.  What is your game plan for certification?  With the 150 hour requirement for the CPA exam it only seems logical to go to grad school.  I'm considering the CMA just so I don't have to go another 2 semesters, however I'd make a lot more money as a CPA but probably have to work "brutal" overtime often.

Does it ever bother you that some people think that just because you have a degree in Zoology, you work in a Zoo? I have encountered many people who also think that Engineers, "Are the runs who run the choo choo trains." I may have lived in too many states and met alot of dummies.

17.8% in my county right now.

Thats similiar to my country South Africa, official unemployment rate is 24% but I bet its much higher than that, and theres no such thing as a benefit like there is in Germany for the unemployed either.
However I stay positive because good friend and neighbour Zimbabwe has unemployment rate of 95% HAHAHAAHA!
