58% of informed Americans approve of President Obama
President Obama, now a little more than three weeks into his tenure, has already issued several executive orders reversing some of the previous administrations policies as well as moved a $789 billion stimulus bill through both houses of Congress. Considering all of the moves made by the President over the past few weeks, informed Americans highly approve of the job he has done so far.
58% of the PoliticsHome Jury Panel - the specially selected, balanced focus group of informed and engaged American voters - approve of President Obama three weeks in, while only 37% disapprove. Interestingly, the national approval rating provided by other polling organizations such as Rasmussen (60%) and Gallup (63%) is slightly higher than that of engaged and informed Americans.
Panelists split heavily along party lines, but independent panelists broke the gridlock, giving the president a high approval rating. Among left-leaning panelists, an overwhelming 96% approve of the president, with only 1% disapproving. On the flip-side, only 9% right-leaning panelists approve of President Obama, while 81% disapprove. It was the independent panelists that raised the presidents approval rating to well above 50%, with 67% approving and 27% disapproving.
PoliticsHome interviewed 1,052 Americans from its Jury Panel - the specially selected focus group of informed and engaged Americans.
Results are weighted evenly among Democrats, Republicans, and Independents.
