Can you tell me who this person is?  Is this part of a comedy sketch?
Like the clueless competitor kind of thing? I don't get the whole thing, that thing has no right to step foot on a bodybuilding stage.

Look, folks, Melvin Goodrum represents the wannabe and dreamer in all of us. Anyone who trains and gets reasonably large arms considers himself a bodybuilding expert and Melvin is no exception. So he belongs on Getbig and used to have more respect and authority when he posted. Someone insisted he post a photo of himself and we have all been amused ever since. The guy probably looks better than some of us has-beens and overweight guys but he is nowhere near what is respected for contest bodybuilders. Melvin obtained on line certificates and that is what those letters stand for after his Vince G handle. He calls himself Vince because he claimed he once wrestled as 'Venom Vince Versace', although there is no evidence he actually stepped in the ring. The dude was used to warm up wrestling audiences and was so effective that people threw soda bottles at him and some wrestlers hated him! So Melvin is a good talker.

He has always envied those of us with academic qualifications so found a remote religious college that granted him a PhD in exchange for a donation. Gotta love a guy who will find a shortcut instead of actually attending college and earning a degree.

Melvin had all manner of grandiose plans re a clinic or personal training studio. He swore his bank manager was licking his chops in anticipation of his getting a government loan given to minorities. Last year Melvin announced he was getting married in the fall but Keith discovered his profile on line and his relationship with a bloke in NC. Did this stop our internet legend from continuing to post on Getbig. Not at all. However, he hasn't posted as much as in previous years so we wonder how retirement is for Melvin.

Do you purposely start threads on Getbig just to brag to your friends? I bet you say shit like " Yeah I am the most popular guy on that website"  Do you ever tell them that your threads turn into 10+ pages of people making fun of you or just lie and say they all compliment you?

I am serious here, there has to be a reason why you start this " I'll be competing thread" EVERY F-IN season  ::)

True about Mauldin, S.C. being a small town. Andy did not give a damn about advertising and if i remember the other co-owner was really pissed with Andy because he had no people skills and that killed both of their gyms. Andy was willing to work with students and the people that lived in Mauldin, S.C. and he let some of the "bigger guys" train for free. I lived in Pelzer, S.C. and i use to drive all the way to Mauldin, S.C. to train there because it was a great gym and had great equipment. The equipment was not something like Ballys or Lifestyles Family Fitness but who wants that crap. Andy higherd people who knew nothing about bodybuilding, nutrution or proper exercise.

Andy was a good guy and me and him were always cool.  He just spent too much time hooking his friends up with free memberships and jobs.  However, the co-owner was AWOL a lot of the time and I rarely seen him...in fact I can't remember his name, just his face.  That's just how much he didn't check up on the gyms.

Vince, honest question for you.

If you had some of your contest pictures on the caliber fitness homepage, do you think it would increase or decrease sales?

Franchise is a waste of money, I have competed againt them for 20 years and make a good bit of money, I have 3 franchise gyms withing 3 miles of me. Vince is actually right on this.

True on that.  I'd never open a franchise gym because you'll have more resources to promote your own.

For example, the biggest and most popular centers in Greenville, SC is Sports Club and they're not a franchise at all.  Everyone goes to their gyms and they pretty much destroyed Golds, Powerhouse, Planet Fitness, and every other gym around.

I personally think however that the future is in personal training studios.  I've even put together a studio design that would fit in a 14x20 sq feet space with reception desk and equipment for under $15,000.  A lot of people want more personalized training and are willing to pay for it

It would not make a difference because people only care about the product and price

This person went to a studio to take pictures of that physique?  It's clowns like this who give bodybuilding a bad name.

When you compete, a studio photograher takes the pictures after you leave the stage..... ::)

If it wouldn't make a difference then why do the majority of supplement, training, equipment suppliers use models on their websites?  They do it to make people think that by buying their products, then they can look like that as well.  It's the same as the big supplement companies using the top Pro's in their adverts.  Buy Product X, you too could look like Ronnie.

So, back to my question, if you put your contest pics on your website, would that inspire people to want to look like you, and therefore, buy your products?

Those pics Patrick C. took take the cake. How in the hell could you let yourself be photographed let alone walk on stage like that? You mean all the training & "dieting" you did or done or supposedly done, & this is your best? If I looked like that I would NEVER be photographed without the baggiest of sweats or cloths. Vince you may want to save some $$ & take a ride to Charlotte or Atlanta & see a plastic surgeon to help you & I'm  being honest. So much for the "theory" of brothers having more test naturally.

Yes, but never seen they with "Patrik Studios" all over them and taken of a man who has no business with his shirt off.
I compete myself and have for a long time.
why do you step on the stage? You obviously have no muscles and you have jelly rolls on stage, you give bodybuilding a bad name
and from the looks of it, you are the laughing stock of the internet.
Nice abs and thigh pose, I counted 6 jelly rolls.
Get off the stage before somebody punches you in the face.
