Yeah, gyms are everywhere. Easy to open but not so easy to make money out of them. How is that personal clinic going, Melvin? I can't imagine your being content to sit at home on the internet all day.

Again you're thinking too big and a lot of stuff you mentioned is simply clutter.  Obviously a private training studio isn't going to need all the stuff you're talking about and the design can actually make more than you think if done correctly...and the overhead would be much lower allowing you to keep more of the profit.

Now, I only mentioned Sam's Club because they are doing it but actually a number of personal trainers have bought similar packages, added some extra stuff and and are doing pretty well.  They run it by themselves scheduling appointments, cleaning up, and etc.

The design I have like I said works similar to a hair salon and I'm sure it'll catch on with other interested in their own operation.  Peope who I've asked for opinions on the design actually liked it and thought it was innovative.

Please tell me what items you would consider clutter

You are making a lot of assumptions without marketing research to back them up. First of all, you are not alone in the fitness business. I'm living in a town in Norway with 200 000+ inhabitatants in the area. There are at least 7 professional gyms here. All of them offers personal training, free weights, machines, cardio equipment, tanning beds, spinning halls, aerobic/group training facilities++. The one I go to is the largest, and they also have squash courts and two large climbing walls as well as saunas that are always on. All equipment is kept in prime condition and the rooms are classy, spacy and have very good AC/heating.

Why on earth would I go your hair-dressing fitness/wellness center when I can go to a large, professional gym instead?

Because there is a growing number of people who fear going into a large gym because they assume they will be ridiculed and harrassed.  In addition, people don't want to spend time walking around a large gym looking for help with equipment and eventually they stop coming all together.  And the fees for a personal trainer at a gym can be from $100-$200 dollars per session

A private studio allows that person to be comfortable with their surroundings without having to deal with assholes or not getting help who would make fun of them and they are more than willing to pay more for the services.  Plus that trainer can charge much less than what a gym would charge giving lots of customer retention.  In addition, the trainer can also sell nutritional supplements which adds to his residual income.  Most PT's can't sell supplements except the gyms and they usually don't get any money from it.  Best of all, the trainer doesn't have to do the "one free session" for new gym members which saves them a time from being wasted.  I always hated doing that because they just forked down a ton of money for the membership so they're not in the spending mood anyway....its a waste of time for the most part.

With all due respect to Vince and some others I have seen on stage in the past, the NPC should have some sort of standard or regulation which would prevent anyone in Vince's former (and possibly upcoming) condition from standing on stage with other guys who actually deserve to be up there.

Many years ago we had a female impersonator (a very talented and artistic performer) who decided that he wanted to enter a ladies' bodybuilding contest.

Unbeknownst to the promoter and the NPC officials, he managed to get on stage during the initial lineup and was making a damn good showing until some of his friends and fellow performers ran to the edge of the stage and yelled, "Good going, Ralphy! Show them glutes!" ............

And then the  prejudging came to an immediate halt and it took a while for the promoter and the officials to solve the situation; but when it continued, that lineup was minus "Ralphy".

But in the background you could hear Ralphy's high pitched voice yelling, "I'm gonna sue! I'm gonna sue!".

That may be a far fetched example of the Vince/NPC situation, but there oughta be a regulation.

Or could it just be possible that such a regulation could end up in a court of law. I've heard crazier stories regarding our legal system.

Sorry, Vince, but so far you've been an embarassment in your Speedos and to be honest with ya, I don't expect to see any improvement in the future.

I'll be getting my last two pieces of equipment in on Monday fully completing my home gym.  Now, I'll be able to simply walk down the hall to train hard and heavy.

Here's some of the stuff I've armed with now.... ;D

Along with 150 cans of tuna and frozen veggies, I am more than ready to get things done right.  Because of obvious reasons, I will not name the shows I will be in with the exception of a possible entrance into the OCB Midwest States in November but I thing is for sure....I will kick ass.

You may be right, but there are a few snags. Given that you will have rather strict limitation on the numbers of customers, you need to charge quite a bit from each customer to make money. Who will be willing and able to pay?

Melvin is out there battling away with basic fitness equipment and not much else. Good for him if he can get in shape and compete. Why should anyone discourage him from enterring contests? Melvin isn't ready yet for open competition but fares well in other divisions. Those who throw stones seldom have the nerve to actually compete. It takes a lot of courage. Some say that Melvin is delusional and has no shame. Well, perhaps the hero he sees in his mirror isn't what we see in his photos but he is still a bodybuilder.

At least Melvin Goodrum has won a trophy in a bodybuilding contest. How many here can claim that? Goatboy? Naw, that dude is probably in timeout where he belongs.
