garbage.

bb waist measurements are even more ridiculous than arm measurements

lee priest admitted the smallest his waist ever got was 32 inches

Whatever size it was it looked good.

Question:

How would he "refine" his physique there? What do you really mean by this? Just an honest question, not sarcasm.

A case could be made for Shawn Ray, saying that since his 2nd Olympia appearance in 90, all he did with his body was refine it. But look what that got him- a couple 2nd place finishes and endless internet arguments about "who really should have won in '94..."
Shawn never really gained more than 5-10# after his pro debut, and people criticize him for that saying he never improved. Would that mean Jay would have never improved over his '01 look had he decided to just "refine" his physique?

Worked on his conditioning....more detail....Ray was a small guy, Cutler is much larger in regards to width and bulk.  Jay looked his best in 2001 and he did not look to be to that much larger than he was in the video....maybe 5-10 lbs, but he was shredded and ripped with a much more mature look.

jay did what he had to do to win the olympia. it is pretty shocking how much his physique has changed for the worse since 01, including his head size

it's not a decision i would have made but jay seems pretty happy so he'd probably do it all again if given the choice
to each his own i suppose

As many of you know, I played football at a small NCAA school for a year before I transfered up to Boston to BU.  The school I went to was in RI and Worcester is not to far from Rhode Island.  Long story short, I started to see a national level bb competitor in Worcester for supplement and training advice.  Friends of mine who played ball at Worcester State worked with this dude and they swore by him (turned out to be a scumbag weirdo).  Anyway, one time, I trained at the Golds in Worcester long ago.  Cutler was in there working out and he looked crazy.  He Looked like he did in the video above.  It's a shame he will never regain his 2001 form.

Big J, There is no way you can call cutler "small" in that video.  he looks to be about 240-250 at 5'9 with a 32" waist.  All he had to do was refine what he already showed in that video.  2001 was his best year and since then he has gotten much bigger, but at the expense of the quality of the physique.

Dude, I never said that Cutler looked "small". I meant he was looking smaller back then than in the years where he was winning the Olympia - there is a definite difference. He does look awesome though - I prefer him that way - looks like he tried to play the mass game a bit too much to hang with the likes of Coleman who is probably 2 inches taller and ruined his physique a little along the way. And there's no way his waist is 32 inches in that video.

I get what your saying, but Jays "bigger" physique is not better.  Jay should have stopped trying to get bigger in 2001 and worked at getting totally ripped at the same size.  Crazy ripped.  He would have won the Olympia from 2006 - 2008 if he came in like 2001.  He was big enough to be a mass guy, but he had great lines and he was ripped to the bone.  Ronnie would have lost that either way.  Dex couldn't compete with that, either.

Cutler + a more detailed back in 2001 form = Mr O from 2006 - whenever he retired.  He should have stayed the course.

My point was that if jay had stuck with his 2001 look and refined that look, he would have smashed Coleman in 2006 and 2007...and he would have beat dex in 2008.  That version of Cutler with some added back detail = unbeatable by the current crop of pros.  Look at his legs in that video, its fucking scary, ha-ha.

Cutler, wtf man......why don't you just go back to the 2001 look?

Go back to his 2001 look? Impossible. He's too far gone. Every year I hold out for a miracle but it's not going to happen. Cutler, PIP homie. Pour out a lil Celltech, niggaz. :(

Well when he looked like this he was placing 9th and 10th and stuff. So it was only when he got more massive than ever in 2006 that he finally won. He gave interviews saying he was all about retaining what he had, but after 5 years or so he rightly got bored of not winning. Can't blame him, it did what it took! Plus he's older now so you can't expect him to still look 25.

True dat!  Bodybuilders dont have a long shelf life and Jay won alot of shows and collected alot of coin after 01 playing the size game.  A body builders prime only lasts for a few years, Jays was 01-06 IMO.  He won 2 O's and 3 Arnolds not too bad.  I miss mass monsters Jay needs to come in in the 270's like before and he'll be back on top.  Pretty physiques are for haters and homo's we need to have the return of Mass Monsters, the years of Coleman vs.  Jay, Gunter, Ruhl etc were the best.  I'm a big fan of Kevin, Phil, Dillet, Flex as well, but BB needs the "OMG, What is that thing factor" I never understood all the hate towards Jay, the guy is a beast, made tons of money being a freak and was good for bodybuilding.
