I served in the Army and worked for Greenville Country and SLED.  But my opinion is based on seeing people killed by assault weapons.  When I was working in corrections, inmates would tell (brag) about how easy it was to convert a weapon into a fully automatic. 

America's love of guns are killing us and we have the highest murder rates by guns in the world.  I'm not against owning guns but the guns owned should be of practical use and application.

This is the thing that pisses me off most about the left, the people that follow the law, do the right thing are the ones that are penalized, because a percentage of individuals doesn't play be the rules. What good does it do me if the government decides to take away my gun when the criminal gets one anyway via illegal means? All you are doing is disarming law abiding citizens who have the RIGHT to bear arms. Here let me say that again the RIGHT to bear arms.

I see the problem is that the left wants to blame an indament object, instead of addressing the issue that some people are just bad/evil and don't give a shit about someone else's life. I have seen stats that f you excluded the black/hispanic population from crime stats, the USA would have stats almost like Europe and Japan with regard to violent crime.

Whats the difference between an assault weapon, say and AR 15 which is a semi automatic weapon and a Glock with a 20 round clip? capacity is about the same and a Glock is much easier to conceal than an AR 15 or an AK 47. Let me tell you what I think, the left chooses to demonize one weapon because it looks like a military weapon. How much more damage does a .223 round do more than a 9mm or .45? Your argument is emotion driven with no basis in fact, reality, or ballistics.

Unfortunately, no not all of them.  The biggest problem is these air guns that are built exactly like the actual weapons to the point where a few components bought from the internet would convert them over to the real thing.  That's why they are so popular these days

I checked an M16 one out at a store one time and I was surprised that it had the same metal frame and construction as the one I used in the Army.  It was not plastic.  Add the bolt action mechanism and a few other parts and it would be ready to shoot live ammunition.  That's why these AirSoft guns are so popular.  Its more expensive to convert one over but you can get the instructions and the extra parts on the internet quite easily and there would not be any record of it.
