I've had this donwloaded for months but never got around to watching it. Its 2 hours 38 minutes and no: 19 on IMDB's top 250. Overrated or genuinely awesome?

It's my favourite Leone flick. The shootout at the beginning is aces.
'Looks like we're short a horse.'
'No. You brought two too many.'
/and henry fonda plays not only against character as frank but turns in one of the best stone killers of all time!!

Bit slow, but worth seeing. Next try Sam Peckinpah's three: Ride the High Country, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, and the Wild Bunch.

Ride the High Country is excellent. Both Scott and McCrea retired after that flick figuring it was a nice high point to end their careers on - they were right. The Wild Bunch is my favourite Western. Just awesome: 'If they move, kill'em!'

I like that one too, Tim. A very long, languorous take on American crime. And that fadeout enigmatic smile of NeNiro's is pretty cool. What the hell does it mean? I still have no idea.

The Wild Bunch is my favourite Western. Just awesome: 'If they move, kill'em!' One of mine also. The Outlaw Josey Wales and Shane are also high up. Tombstone was one of the better new ones.

Not that great. Some good scenes, but overall not so good.
MUCH better westerns out there.
Some Terrence Hill movies I'd recommend.
Here is a good list of some that I can remember at the top of my head and the names might not even be right:
Gunman's walk 310 to Yuma Good Bad and Ugly They call me trinity My name is Nobody Unforgiven
The T.V. Show the "Rifle man" with CHuck Connors was good.

is this the one that had that constant harmonica tune in the background? If so, that was the only thing I can remember from the movie, and it drove me nuts.

Yes. The protagonist is Charles Bronson AKA "The man with a harmonica"
