Messed up scenario - Opinions sought
« on: March 02, 2009, 09:57:32 AM »
Ok so my buddy has been dating this girl for a couple months and they are just getting serious now. She tells him that about 2 years ago she got raped by a guy she knew, they were in grad school together at the time. It was one of those drunk at a party, go back to his room, make out, and then he wouldn't stop when she told him to. She did not report it to the police or anything. This guy still lives in the general area here. My question is now as this girl's boyfriend is he obligated to beat the hell out of this guy. My thoughts are yes, but only if he fully believes her story is 100% accurate.

Thought?

If she were raped why wouldn't she report it?   Sounds suspect to me.

Very tough.  But if he really doesn't 100% believe her, why is he even dating her?

I found myself in similar situation...A girl I know claimed a guy locally raped her,I threatened him,he denied it and said she made up the story,I asked one of my cop friends if it'd been reported,he said no,apparently the bitch made up the allegation against this guy and another guy at a different time...She isnt my friend anymore

I think if he assumes it is true he needs to atleast threaten the guy and hear his side of the story.

Beating up the boyfriend at this point in time does absolutely nothing to ammend the situation. If anything, it will make things worse.

If he really does believe her, he needs to stomp the guys ass, IMO.

my thought is he should stop dealing with damaged goods, that bitch is clearly fucked up in the head, she just has a grudge with that guy and is making up shit to get back at him. He probably fucked her and she went along with it 100% then after he didn't stay for cuddles and fucked off. ;D

No.

1)  Who the fuck knows if she's telling the complete truth about what happened?

2)  If she's encouraging him to "beat the guy up" for a two-year old thing she didn't even report, that's fishy as hell.

ALL rapes get reported
Un-reported rapes are dates that went a bit salty
This was not a rape

No she just told him in confidence one night. Now he is wondering if he should fight the guy or not. She didn't asking him to and wouldn't want him to. He had to pry the guys name from her.

he need not do anything.

First, it's not his business. She will have to deal with it in whichever way she feels best, your friend can suggest reporting it.
second, he does not know the full story.

give the guy a look, if he give s dirty or suspicious look back
blacken his eyes,
otherwise,
leave it alone.

Bullshit, I don't know where you get your info from but you are horribly misinformed.

He needs to let it go.  She wasn't his girlfriend when it happened (did he even know her then?), and as someone else said, it's none of his business.  She obviously didn't feel the need to report it.  If he goes after someone swinging for something that allegedly happened two years ago, he'll just get himself in trouble, and probably make the situation worse.
