In New Jersey, the senate failed to pass a bill allowing people to buy one gun every 30 days.
12-13 guns per year.
The dems most all said yea.
The repubs most all said nay.
The losing vote I believe came down to the dems that abstained to vote. It lost by one vote.

For legal gun owners, how many guns do you think you need personally?
Whether it is for hunting, home protection, just shooting the range.

I am all for people who have guns legally to keep them, but do you really need to buy a gun once every 30 days?
This is not geared toward people who run legal gun dealerships.
Just curious.

Some want them for protection, some for their collection, some just to have a variety. A lot of guys are "gear" guys who just want to spend money and have as many guns, vests, etc they can. Some guys compete with pistols and buy a bunch.

It sounds weird but that's what it is.

Home defense and just the fun of target shooting.

I started out with a .22 but that got boring. Then I got a 9mm etc etc. Other than the shotgun, they stay in the safe, locked up, child lock etc.

Target shooting, both handgun and rifle, is very fun.

Maybe he just lives close to Trenton, Newark or Camden and wants to make sure he can keep hitting his targets.

Who cares how many guns a person "needs". It's like anything else in this world...if a person chooses to have a small armory in their house then that is his or her's decision. Nobody "needs", a fancy car, big screen TVs, boob jobs, etc.

Yea, except any of those things in the "wrong hands" can't kill, maim or supply gangs, cartels, criminals in general.
For personal use is one thing. If you purchase 26 guns in a 2 year period for your own personal use, I understand the collector mentality.

If you are supplying a criminal element, that is a whole other story.

Your original question wasn't about supplying criminals though. It was "how many guns do you need?" I answered the original question asked. After I bought my first...it was like a tattoo; I just kept buying. I shoot a lot and would like to compete soon.

I can assure you that there are very few, if any, FFL dealers that are supplying criminals.

That is another canard used by the left. Most FFL I know are afraid of set up ands undercover ops to do that nonsense. Why risk making a few hundred dollars and lose your license and livilhood?

It is that simple, we have the right to bear arms.

The second amendment is a very important check on the government Sandra.

How many cars, books, pets, shoes, do u need...all u need is one and plenty of ammo. Most people collect. I like 1911's and have a few. My next will be a Les Baer with all the aftermarket cool shit.

My grandpa always carried his 1911 from WWII. I've heard it got him out of many tight spots.

Vehicles are often used in crime.

Its a lot harder to rob a bank on a ten speed or do a drive by on skateboard.

So maybe there should be a limit on how many cars people own in case they get stolen and used in crime.

I guess you aren`t too clear of the role of the ATF either. There are plenty of laws on a state and Federal level that guard against stockpiling of weapons automatic and regular. I found it interesting when they raided Blackwater

Federal agents raided a Blackwater armory Tuesday and seized 34 automatic rifles that the company purchased and stored on behalf of a local law enforcement agency, the Associated Press reports.

Anne Tyrrell, a Blackwater spokeswoman, tells AP that ATF agents searched the Moyock, N.C., facility. The raid came after reports on a deal in which the company paid for weapons that were registered in the name of the Camden County, N.C., Sheriff's Office.

"The 2005 agreements gives the sheriff's office unlimited access to the weapons, including 17 Romanian AK-47s and 17 Bushmasters," the wire service says. "But [Sheriff Tony] Perry said his department has only used the AK-47s in shooting practice at Blackwater and that none of his 19 deputies are qualified to use them."

Federal law prohibits private companies or individuals from purchasing automatic weapons.
