Why aren't female bodybuilders bigger? Must be at least a dozen of them out there that are willing to go batshit crazy with the hormones but never even come close to the size of male bodybuilders? Is it purely an issue of receptors?

um...because it's more than hormones that dictates how much muscle you can build.

Females are on general significantly smaller than males. So a heavily developed female with great genetics for building muscle, like Iris Kyle, is going to be a lot bigger than men who don't train, but isn't going to come close to a heavily developed male with great genetics for building muscle like Victor, Branch etc.

Saying that she could probably do very well in her weight class at the mens nationals.

Yeah what you are saying is easily observed. But really, if a woman with awesome genetics decides to do suicide doses of hormones what prevents her from getting the same results a man would get on the same stack?

Hormone doses in bodybuilding are usually so high that whatever advantage in natural testosterone the man has on the female is too small to make a difference.

They are smaller than males starting out. Even if individual fibers hypertrophy to the same extent the end result isn't going to be the same.

A skinny male twink weighing 110 lbs can given enough time and hormones easily outmass 99% of all female bodybuilders out there even if the females started out at 160 lbs skinny fat.

Read about how females respond to growth hormone differently/less (females have more GH). Bone size is probably related to how much muscle size you have generally. And etc.

Yeah everything you say seems very plausible.

About the twink, I really do think it's just a matter of hormones and enough food. Male muscle building wise you don't have to have exactly stellar genetics to surpass the mass of female bodybuilders. He may not be the next Jay Cutler, but outmassing 99% of all female bodybuilders I think is very doable.
