You cant make policies on sob stories like this.  Yes things suck, Yes things are horrible, Yes things are going to get worse before they get better, Yes, families are going to have to consolidate and move in with inlaws, etc.

What would you do send thesepeople a monthly check for 5k????

The reality is that people are going to have to make very hard choices and face discomfort for along time.

BTW - Warren Buffett came out against today almost everything Obama is doing:

Card Check
Cap & Trade
Higher Taxes

Etc etc.

the only thing I can find that he's against is Card Check.  I see nothing about higher taxes.  I also see nothing but support from Buffet for Obama from the news stories that are out today.

Go read the interview on CNBC, not the nosense that is reported.  Yes he said he supports Obama, but when asked about specific policies, it was hard ot see where he agreed with what they are doing.

He clearly states that cap and trade is bad policy and will hike energy costs for people and that now is not the time to raise taxes on people.  I will try to post the transcript.  He is also against Card Check which, to me, is a big issue that is not being reported on enough but will rear its ugly head very soon.

Please remember that taxes will be raised on FAMILIES making 250K+.  Thats two professionals.

I'll copy another post for a further responce:

 "Obama has:

• Raised taxes on small businesses, the engines of entrepreneurship and job growth

• Raised the capital gains tax

• Lied about "tax cuts for 95% of Americans", offering instead $13 a week, achieved not through tax cuts, but by changing the federal withholding tables!

• Destroyed charitable giving by axing the tax breaks for 26% of all giving (or $81 billion in 2006)

• Proposed a carbon cap-and-trading scheme designed to punish oil companies and further tax consumers

http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/03/obama-administration-announces-they.html

Why would Obama inflict these destructive policies while the economy is collapsing? Simple. Each step strengthens the role of government in people's lives.

• Squelching the stock market kills its attractiveness as a parking lot for private capital. Combined with an increase in the capital gains tax, investors will swarm to bonds -- tax-free vehicles like municipal bonds, which benefit the growth of state and local government. And unions, of course.

• Carbon cap-and-tax will raise taxes on all Americans as the cost of goods and services will increase to address a non-existent threat.
http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=5441

• True tax cuts would grow the economy, which is why, Obama shuns them. The last major recession was Jimmy Carter's malaise. It consisted of of double-digit inflation and unemployment. It was finally licked by across-the-board tax cuts for everyone which touched off a twenty-plus year run of prosperity.

• Charities reduce the role of government assistance for those in need. That, in Obama's world, can not be tolerated. That is why charities must be choked off and allowed to die. Especially faith-based institutions."

Cry me a fucking river.
It's your own god-damned fault for becoming a doctor.  Quit making so much money and you won't have to pay so much in taxes.  You'd think someone smart enough to become a doctor would realize they shouldn't make so much money.

It seems to me the Republicans only answer to everything is "lower taxes for the rich"... We did that the past 8 years and look where it got us?  I am in the upper tax bracket, and my taxes will go from 35 to 39.6 percent...  Honestly, it isnt going to effect my life in the slightest... nor will it effect anyone else in the top 5 percent.... So my question is, how many companies used the bush tax cuts to reinvest in their companies to hire more Americans?  Please name me 1... They gave out million dollar bonuses and shipped the jobs overseas and got more of a tax cut shipping jobs overseas...  So please Republicans, explain to me how this makes any sense...

Also, im getting really sick and tired of hearing Fox News anchors bitch about "paying my neighbors payments because they were irresponsible"  my neighbor and his wife both worked for construction companies their entire lives (foreman and a Architect)... Made a couple hundred grand a year for the past 10 years... they bought a home with in their means... (350k) 2 cars, and putting 1 of their children through college (They have 4 the others are in HS and Middle school)... The past almost 2 years neither of them had a paycheck... their home is getting for closed and these right wing assholes keep ranting and raving how irresponsible they are...  Shit one of my uncles is a mason and hasnt had a job in close to 3 years, he had 20 employees down to not a penny in almost 3 years... many people were not irresponsible, many people just stopped making money and CANT pay their bills...

HERES AN IDEA!!!GET A NEW CAREER!!!!!!!Stop asking me to pay for your bad luck.I dont give a rats ass about you, just like they dont give a rats ass about me.

None of which is my fault......u mentioned they have 5 kids and bought a 350K house maybe they should have had less kids and bought a smaller house, again not my place to say, but neither is it my problem.

hh6 I couldnt agree more, although I feel bad for the situation, I dont think that its my responsibility to pay for them when I am struggling trying to pay for my own family. I have 2 cars that are payed for and a house that will be payed for in >10 months. when that is done I will sell and have a bigger down payment for a bigger nicer home that I can afford. I dont make a 6 figure income but I do know what I can afford and dont get in above my head. I have a 19 month old son and a fiance that dosent work (my choice) I am the sole provider for my family and I work 60-70 hours a week to provide for my family. I dont think that I should have to provide for someone else.  Will anyone pay my mortgage if I lose my job? No probably not. If I lose my job I will sell my house and find something to rent for a while. I owe significantly less than the remainder of my mortgage it shouldnt be a problem to sell. Do a job for a lot less money and make due without Govt. help. I am also tired of people saying that they cant find a job. I was at my local mcdonalds today and there was a sign saying now hiring, I saw no one filling out an app. very surprising, most people are too proud to work a menial job they would rather sit at home and collect money every month, for doing nothing, while I bust my ass to make due

I believe it.  I'm just south of Ft Myers.  it's crazy here.  There aren't all that many jobs.  Tourism and construction dried up, and service economy followed as a result.  There are still some niche markets doing well... but the number of people out of work is staggering.  I have 4 people in family who lost jobs in last year, many more friends, and 3 more whose workplace is closing in the next 2 months.

If you buy a $X house, you need to realize if you can't guarantee an income that high for the next 30 years (mortgage) then maybe you shouldn't do it.  Sucks, but unless you have tenure or a guaranteed contract, you don't know what markets will dry up.  Five years ago, real estate and construciton were on FIRE down here.  Today, it's pathetic.  NOTHING is getting built, and I mean nothing.

I actually looked at a house in Cape Coral... Can get a spot around 2500sqft on the water with Ocean access for under 300k... Crazy... 3 years ago I saw a piece of land near the same spot for 400k just for the piece of land.. But according to folks like Shawn Hannity everyone down there is Lazy...

Im real tired of fuckers like you. I make over 500k a year, every home I own is paid for, every suv and car I own is paid for and I don't have 1 debt. Its fucking sad!!!!  Everyone bitches about how bad health care is overseas, and all the folks bitching have never left the states. The reason I am ROFL is because so many simpletons offer other people's money without hesitation but think nothing of "donating" their money to the government.  Why do you feel the need to be told since you offer other people's money with ZERO hesitation?

Lastly, please speak for yourself before opining on the impact of tax increases on me and my family.

"You'd think someone smart enough to become a doctor would realize they shouldn't make so much money. "

What the f--k are you talking about?  That didn't even make sense.  General practice/Family docs don't make excessive amounts of money.  The average family doctor makes $140,000 per year.  Thats after 12 years of schooling after high school.  During that time most of us accumulate a shit load of debt and 12 yrs of lost wages (besides a small amount of $ in residency).  The only docs that make a ton of money are cardiologists and surgeons.  Compared to other professions, physician wages have slipped significantly over the past decade.  You are clueless.

Some of you think only Families making over 250K will be taxed more, you're wrong.  Energy costs will go up, cigarette and gas taxes are on their way up, sales taxes in many parts are going up, capital gains taxes are going up which affects a large % of people, their investments and retirements.

You don't know what I do or don't do. I give money to charitys on a monthly basis. I pay my assistants daughters college tuition every year. Do I HAVE TO? No.. But shes a struggling single mom and I have no problem helping her out...  Every once in a while I give her some cash just to help her out... She works her ass off for me and I appreciate it...

You wont be impacted nor will anyone else on this political board PERIOD.  One guy is a MD and Im sure his will go up, but what he fails to mention his MP Insurance will be 100% write off and when he gets his tax return back he will realize he paid less than even under the bush tax cuts after he finds out about Medical Loop holes for Doctors. I the only person who took high level accounting classes in college?

Whatever college you went to should give a refund because your grammar is horrible.  Additionally, there is no loop hole for doctors that ordinary business people dont have.  You are passing off false information and you know it.

Additionally, just because someone gets a tax "write off" does not man that they still dont have to generate that revenue each month to pay the premium.
