Note to MD re Arnold Amateur
« on: March 08, 2009, 02:21:59 PM »
Dear MD, when you get contest results, you can't just post them as first name last name without doing a little research.   With Spanish, Portuguese and Arabic names, the family name is not always the last name in the list.   For example

for Pablo Ayala Zayas, Ayala is the family name.   you can list is as Ayala, or Ayala Zayas, but not Zayas.
Humberto Pena Rodriguez, Pena is the last name (and it may even be Peņa, but I'm checkin into that)
Antonio Diaz Lopez, Diaz is the last name
Charles Soares is Charles Mario
Angel Rangel Vargas, Rangel is the last name
Victor Senovilla Cuellar, Senovilla is the last name

and my favorite, as listed on the official athlete list:

Mahmoud El Desouke El Fadaly El Sayed Neamatalla

is not Mahmoud Neamatalla, but has competed in a bunch of world amateurs as Mahmoud El Fadaly

With Asian and Hungarian names, the family name comes first.

And of course athletes don't always fill out the application correctly, reversing the first and last name.  You got to look at previous contest history.

Kravechenko Bogdan is really Bogdan Kravchenko
Molines Luc is really Luc Molines

then there are general misspellings,

Danny Cicchirillo, not Cachirillo
Kob Yan, not Kan
Costantino Galeazzo, not Constantino (see his website at galeazzo.com)

there are many others, but I'll let you find them on your own on MuscleMemory

Egberton Etienne-Winklaar?

that seems to be his official name, how he filled out his application for the Arnold, and that's how he's competed at the World Amateurs, but for everyday use he goes by Roelly Winklaar
