HAHA weight belts???
« on: March 09, 2009, 07:27:16 PM »
i see dudes chillen all the time in the gym wearing these so-called "power" belts doing sets of curls, sets of standing and talking, or just looking around the gym thinking that a tight belt around the waist makes them not look fat. i saw some stupid kid wearing these while doing abs.  ??? abs?? are you fucking kidding me?

i tried using these a while back for a couple of workouts during the obvious lifts such as squats and deadlifts when my back was bothering me, and i thought it was freakin uncomfortable. it didnt help one bit. what the fuck are these things for anyway? are they truly necessary for some people? seems like most people who wear them just like the idea of wearing a belt, and think it gives off a better image when theyre in the gym.

I'm a Chef. I'm sourounded by food. I train to stay slim. I don't get the point of power lifting?

Different strokes for different folks- I enjoy the feeling of getting stronger at a lift. I find standard bodybuilding boring.

Also most folks only show the SHW classes (where excessive eating is a quick means to an end). Check out the 242 and under classes many of those guys are lean and strong.

I haven't used a belt in years although I do think if your goal is to lift heavier a belt will help but in the end your core will suffer. I have recently started using straps again on Back day and I am liking the benefits.

i also hate when people wear gloves because what the fuck dont they realize its gonna PREVENT them from getting calluses? and what man doesnt want some rough calluses? i also personally dont like straps but am more understanding of their use since it is true for some people that they cannot grip a weight that they are able to row for the whole set. but in my opinion i would not row it if i couldnt grip it.

weight belts are for pussies

I wear a belt for squats, hacks, dumbell shoulder presses and occasionally standing calf raises - for everything else I go without.

I started wearing one during bicep curls to heal a slight hernia I got while doing curls. Now I wear one during arm training to prevent it from reccuring., and now also for heavy squats. Im not getting any younger!

Weight belts are suitable for a handful of exercises, nothing more...But we have plenty of those guys here too, thinking that benching while wearing a weight belt makes them look harder or stronger
