This is par for the course in the USA, American health insurance providers will come up with any reason and use any means at their disposal to keep from insuring people, ...that's not to say that they won't accept the premiums for years, ...but when it comes time to actually pay out... oopsy, the policy is invalidated.

Totally true.  It's amazing what insurance here, and not just health insurers, do and write into the fine print to avoid actually having to pay out when they should.

Or even providing coverage. A friend of mine in the states was telling me he was having a hard time getting car insurance. He's got a great driving record,, he's not a speeder, no tickets etc., but his sister in law had once sued an insurance company, and had named his as a witness. it never went to trial, the insurance company settled out of court, ...and he wasn't even aware she had named him as a witness, ...but sure enough, simply because he had been in a position to possibly testify against an insurance company... they gave him a hard time and wanted to jack his rates. Corporate avarice can sometimes be unconscionable.
