Dwain Chambers - Squat and Bench max.
« on: March 14, 2009, 12:14:48 PM »
Before hooking up with Victor Conte, Dwain weighed 195lbs.
1 rep max on the bench was 140kg (308lbs)
He could squat 180kg (396lbs)

After a short time of being on his 'cocktail of drugs', his weight shot up to 217lbs.
Benched 165kg (363lbs) for 3 reps
Squatted 230kg (506lbs)....he could also jump-squat this weight for 3 reps.

I'd say the squats were partial and not to depth

Not a massive increase since he started taking gear but still pretty damn good lifts considering. Where did you find out these numbers?

Maxx, you're a little confused bro.  In the UK we generally have 20kg plates in the gym.  In the States they have 45lb plates.

315lbs, is 3 plates a side.
140kg is also 3 plates a side....however the kg/pound conversion is 2.2

20kg times 2.2 equals 44lbs, (not 45lbs).

So; 6 x 20 (+ 20kg bar)...multiplyed by 2.2 = 308lbs.

Hope this helps.

Just finished the book today. Very good read.

Got it at his book signing event last week. He seems to be a humble, straight forward, down to earth guy. Not at all the way he was portrayed in the British media.

I've seen him out an about here in N.London.  He's obviously a good guy, just made a mistake as a very young man...I do believe that it's time people stopped demonising him.

I've never come across 20.2kg plates before man.  Have you?
I'm not really sure of the necessity of a 20.2kg plate?

20.2kg = 44.44lbs

In the uk and europe they are 20kg plates, in the US they are 20.2.
Same as out olympic bars are 20kgs (44lbs)
Metric system baby, much more logical!
