Derik used to boast about 700lb squats. I remember when I first started to use the 'Net around 8-9 years ago, he had a video posted on a site- not sure if it was his site or not. It was something like a 650lb squat for reps.
He's got really strong legs, but when it came to competing with the big boys, the strength didn't match the size he needed to be a standout.
And plus the guy is so short, he's only moving the weight a few inches compared to someone like Ronnie or Toney Freeman.
Good lifting all around though. :)

Not like Platz. Platz's were quite deeper and his knees came out way past his toes ( which is a good thing when doing an olympic squat, assuming your knees can handle it - and his obviously could).

While extremely impressive, his partner doing his body weight (202 I think) for 98 reps was a feat that blows this one away! He was going for 100, but no matter what he just couldn't get those last two, even after falling down and resting for a good while.
