Proverbs
« on: March 21, 2009, 04:03:55 PM »
Just wanted to post some words of wisdom from the wisest man who ever lived.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Honor the Lord with your possessions,
And with the firstfruits of all your increase;
So your barns will be filled with plenty,
And your vats will overflow with new wine.

Proverbs 3:9-10

Regarding the last one, if you've never tithed, I'd encourage you to give a try.  Much better investment than the market.   :)  It works.

More to follow . . . .

I like this one because you get to beat the crap out of your kid as long as he doesn't die. That is awesome!

"Withhold not correction from a child: for if thou strike him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and deliver his soul from hell." (Proverbs 23:13-14)

Giving your son a whipping won't kill him, while spoiling him and let him run wild will kill him.  How is that bad parental advice, and how do you get beating the crap out of him from this verse?    ::)

It says he won't die and and it says use a a rod; so without stretching the interpretation I imagine you can use a hard oak rod and beat him bloody just short of death. There is nothing implying anything to the contrary.

Face it loco, the Bible is full of silly, brutish things.

Interesting coming from some one who doesn't have children.

Beating your child with a rod?  A person that does that is a idiot and should be put in jail.

Beating a child at all with a rod is barbaric and abusive.

What a pathetic "God inspired verse"   ::)

Just to be fair, It could read:  "Withhold not discipline from a child: for if thou discipline , he shall not die. Thou shalt discipline  him  and deliver his soul from hell."

No, I'm not a parent, but I was a child, and my parents did not beat me, but did whipped me with a belt, or with a wooden spoon, or slapped my mouth if I disrespected them.  That's not beating.  It never left a mark or caused any damage to me, but it did put me in line.  I thank them for that, and always will.

My brothers and I all turned out to be law abiding citizen.

Proverbs 26:12
Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Proverbs 27:1
Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

Proverbs 28:27  He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.

Proverbs 6

4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
5 Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

These six things the Lord hates,
Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
A proud look,
A lying tongue,
Hands that shed innocent blood,
A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that are swift in running to evil,
A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren.

Proverbs 6:16-19
