Monsanto's Grant named among world's best CEOs

Barron’s editors chose the top 30 “Most Respected” CEOs after talking with analysts, investors and executives about which leaders kept “their companies out of trouble and on course,” the business weekly said in its edition Monday. The publication also said it examined how stocks performed during the CEO’s tenure.

Grant, who’s appeared on the list before, “could be the ultimate green CEO,” according to his profile in Barron’s.

yea that's what I thought, how in the hell?  but that's typical, the most unscrupulous are rewarded.  Of course, through their unethical business practices they will thrive over companies who have a minimum ethical standard of doing business.

So what does this message send to other businesses?

1.  If we don't opperate this way, someone else will.
2.  If we don't opperate this way, we lose to those who do.

Is this what capitalism has to be like to prosper?

No offense, I register with your anger, but be careful on the board about advocating violence.  It's not a good idea and could bite you. imo it might be good to avoid that kind statement.

Always ;D  I don't know what these idiots do these days.  I mean law enforcement is calling Ron Paul supporters terrorists now?  Case after case of the law overstepping it's authority fly on a daily basis is seems like.  I just wouldn't want you to get blackbagged at some future point, but do whatever you want.  I wasn't trying to piss you off.

OMG, I'm busting a gut here, lol:

Dear Monsanto Colleagues:

An unwavering commitment to integrity in all business operations is at the core of our corporate behavior. We must never take this commitment for granted. In fact, we must reconfirm this commitment every day. By building integrity into all we do, we will earn and retain the trust of all of our stakeholders.

We must strive to maintain and increase that trust every day. With it we can accomplish our vision of abundant food and a healthy environment; without it, we can face nearly insurmountable barriers to our freedom to operate.

Earning that reputation means more than observing the letter of the law. It means doing what is right even when we are faced with situations not governed by any specific law or regulation. Sometimes the right thing to do is not clear, but at Monsanto our job is to seek and find the right answer in every business situation. To help us pursue the best course of action this Code presents guidelines for appropriate business conduct. Our Code will help us deal responsibly with the range of complex business practices that affect our reputation.

Each us will be expected to live up to our Code in all we do.

Sincerely,

Hugh Grant
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
