I'm really not sure. At this stage in my life I'm totally split. I want to be a great doctor and I would love to commit myself to a serious medical lifestyle ie on call often, late nights, early morning in the hospital or in my own private clinic. But...at the same time I would also love to be a world class strong man. I would dearly love both.

As far as I know no-one has managed both... therefore I don't have role models as such.

It would have to be a combination of two people, Bill Kazmaier and a great doctor. I won't name names, but there is one doctor who I have encountered in the last few months who started as a pro skiier for 3 years and had a serious injury. Now he is probably the best surgical registrar in the hospital, in his 30s, great enthusiasm, charisma, published around 50 papers, in a few months will have his 8th degree and enjoys his job. In terms of quality, "personalability" and contribution of his time to his work he reminds me of my dad

Many will say this is impossible. I guess I'll just have to wait and see

Dave Thomas is my number one role model, followed by Paul Newman.

Matt Roloff is a great guy.

Hey man you can do it if you set your mind to it.  Why not have it all?  Dr. Drew is a great successful doctor and he is also an iron brother.  Check out those gunz!   :o

Man, thanks for your positive response, it means a lot. My parents who are both doctors have rolled their eyes and laughed at my ambition...

Who is this guy in your post? More info please

Thing is I'm a bit of an elitist. I mean I want to compete in WSM or AC and be a great Dr at the same time...sounds delusional at best I know. At least I'm honest with myself.

Not sure.  Would be a great time to buy and hold em for a couple years but that's not really his style.

Are you already a doc?  It is a no brainer if you ask me, doctor first and strongman second.  No doubt about it.

That guy is Dr. Drew Pinsky.  He is an addictions medicine specialist.  He is the host of the long running radio show Loveline.  He also has completed two VH1 tv series called Celebrity Rehab and Sober House.  He has authored books and has done a lot in the entertainment arena.  Even a little acting.  He lifts weights and I think Muscle and Fitness has done an article on him.

Yes, for me this is a no-brainer. I plan on getting my degree first. That's the easy part. After that I need to get a good "F1" and "F2" post. Then I need to get a good course in some sort of surgery or whatever I want to do and study papers in endocrinology in my spare time if I plan on hitting the gear and doing it right. Then I can worry about strongman.

Alternatively I can do my six years to get my medical and anatomy degree then do some strongman which is totally dependent on where I am health and strength-wise...take a few years doing this and return to medicine. Whilst I do this I would make full benefit of my access to AAS and endocrinology papers. I would love to be knowledgable on AASs along with having experience of them myself. I would also love to change the public perception of them here. I have managed it to an extent as regards mental health from prior experience, why not AASs with research and experience?

Despite my relatively good coarse grip and bluntness I've found I have a great ability to complete a great dissection in no time, with fine touch and interpret surgical anatomy before some registrars do. Maybe I'm delusional. Art is in the family though.

So much of this is speculation, but at the same time so real. I am one of the honest getbiggers here!

You gotta do what makes you happy, but if it was me I would just focus on being the best doc I could be and just do strongman for fun and as a hobby.  Who cares if you are ever WSM or whatever.
