such as spinach, broccoli, etc...

What is the evidence for this? What other foods qualify and how can one tell if a food qualifies...?

I hate the State.

I’ve read a little bit about the idea.
Supposedly, with certain foods – like broccoli – if you eat a bowl of broccoli your body will burn more calories digesting it than are in it.

I’m also a bit confused.
Does that mean if you eat nothing but broccoli, eventually you’ll become invisible?

montague nailed it.

the process of digesting most vegetables takes up more energy than is actually contained inside the veggie.

but theres also more to it... lower insulin levels by way of intestional bacteria feeding on the fibers and sending short chain fatty acids to the liver, slower digestion of other carb sources by tying them up with fibers, better digestion of proteins by cleaning and keeping moving of the digestive tract, antioxidants vitamins minerals phytonutrients....

Yes, you would eventually become "invisible."  :)

if you eat nothing but broccoli, you would lose too much wait and eventually starve to death.  Your stomach cannot hold enough broccoli to meet your daily calorie needs.  You'd get way too full, probably make yourself sick, before you eat enough calories from broccoli alone.

And although broccoli does have calcium, vitamin C and other important nutrients, it lacks many other important nutrients.

So eat some pizza and ice cream with your broccoli.   :)

How about ice cold water?

Isn't that supposed to burn calories as well because the body needs to warm up again?

^^Concur.
I remember reading that some studies concluded it does, but only to a nominal degree.
That article was from several years ago.
There may be more recent data.

I wouldn’t rely on ice water alone as a fat loss catalyst, but would certainly consider including it as part of a diet regimen.

Well the problem in general is that "calorie-negative" food burns only a small bit of calories, and as you need protein and fat at least fo muscle development and hormone levels, the 50 calories eating spinach burns are not very interesting, you can have that by running 5 minutes.

Then why don't you just write it a little more in detail, or do i have to pay 20 bucks to look into your crystal ball?  ::) ::)

Not to nit-pick, but "i know something great, and i won't tell it until you beg"...  :P :P
