I hope not or that would be weird ;D

Honestly, all sarcasm aside, this is a pretty hefty lift... Check out big_mal @ 240+ who could barely move it at first.... he eventually did but chaos rocked it like a beach ball

don't mean to spoil ur fun little party of u guys blowing each other but that tire weighs no more than 250# plus the water weight which couldn't have been more than 10 -15#.......def a strong lift and flip but it wasn't 850# and he was out of breath after one turn

So you are saying Mal couldn't deadlift it off the ground the first time even though it was under 300 lb? Looks like the tire is holding more water than your argument ;D

Looks like an issue of getting under it and getting a grip more than weight.  850?  Really?   Chaos made it look easy.

The tire may have weighed 850 lb, but obviously that's not the net weight being lifted cause it's a flip and not a lift. I'd say it would still be around 400 - 500 lbs and the hand placement plus it's shape would make it a fairly difficult "lift" to perform. Doubt if someone who can't deadlift more than 4 plates would be able to flip it.

have u ever flipped a tire b4?....based on ur answer i'd say no....it weighs nothing close to 850....what makes it much more difficult than a reg deadlift of the same weight are a few things....1. distribution of the weight, in other words , when u deadlift the weight is evenly distributed equal amounts on both sides, thats not the case with a tire....2. grip....to lift tire the first few feet are basically done with fingertips until u can get ur palm set under it.....for theses reasons a guy who can dl a lot more weight than the weight of tire wud have trouble with it especially when its water filled.....but no way that tire weighs anywhere near 850

How can you tell? Check out #6 in the list in the link below

http://www.asiastrongmen.com/Calenders.htm

Quote
Tyre Flip

-  Weight kg   380KG HEIGHT OF Tyre 180CM

Which means that that one weighs 836 lb. The weight of the tyre varies from under 200 lb to over 1000 lb (there are YouTube clips of strongmen flipping them in competitions) and the one Chaos is flipping is a lot closer to 850 lb than it is to being sub-300 lb like you say. Besides, if you notice, it has huge grooves that he can get his palms under. Sure it involves a lot of technique but like I said before, flipping it doesn't equate to lifting the whole of it's 800+ pounds off the ground, no matter how awkward it is to do.

Flipping a tire means you start with about half the weight of the thing, that's what you initially lift off the ground (it gets easier the higher you lift).
In any case, amazing strength.

Not even close to the whole 800lbs because the diameter of the tire serves as a lever. This is like lifting 800lbs in a wheelbarrow.

That said, it still take a lot of strength and technique. I noticed the guy doing 1150lbs works his body under the tire as far as possible before transitioning to the pressing part of the movement.

I see your point, fulcrums and all that good shit, but I think it's a bit tougher than a wheelbarrow. For starters he's got to lift it off of the ground, and there aren't any nice wooden handles
