even with the fact that almost no body buys CDs anymore, i think singer are still make alot of money in the industry, don't you?
Actually, not really.
Singers do not do very well unless they have at least 2 albums that in turn make the label they are associated with a TON of money.
The first few years of any musicians contract is basically just busting your ass to make ends meet... The label pays you jack.
The musician makes money on touring... If the tour does well, then the singer can generally do well. Unfortunately, they also have to cover the expenses of the tour as well... From roadies, to security and all of the other things.
After two really good selling albums, they usually renegotiate their contracts for bigger slices of the pie.
That's why American Idol winners generally head back home to their little shanties and are never heard from again.
