I always hear from the doubters that gov. is so stupid and inefficient there's no way that 9/11's attack could have been a conspiracy.
That's the same blanket rationale used as justification for almost all rightwing political initiatives.
Gov. isn't incompetent. The FOIA works pretty lamely at exposing gov. secrets. Why is there such a thriving X-files sub-culture?
B/c gov. can keep a secret pretty damn well.
Personally, I believe the 9/11 attacks were allowed to happen. Why do I believe that? Here's why:
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is a bi-national United States and Canadian organization charged with the missions of aerospace warning and aerospace control for North America. Aerospace warning includes the monitoring of man-made objects in space, and the detection, validation, and warning of attack against North America whether by aircraft, missiles, or space vehicles, through mutual support arrangements with other commands.
http://www.norad.mil/about/index.htmlNORAD knew what was happening. It had to know. Hijacked planes requiring 45+ minutes to reach their targets in the most protected air space in the world would be discovered, tracked and shot down.
It is inconceivable that a series of failures allowed the attacks of 9/11 to happen.
Then we have strange acts that follow up the attacks: Bush continues to read a story to children in fl after he is told a second plane has hit the world trade center and that our country is indeed under attack.
That's pretty strange.
Then the 9/11 site is cleared before it can be properly investigated.
That's odd.
Then Bush and Cheney ask the Congress to forgo any investigation into how the attacks happened.
That's really fucking strange.
Can everybody see why reasonable people might think that something is afoot?
