Saudi Arabia Executes Rapist in 22nd Beheading This Year

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia  —  A Saudi man convicted of rape and robbery has been beheaded, becoming the 22nd prisoner to be executed by sword this year in the kingdom.

An Interior Ministry statement says the man committed the crimes after drinking alcohol.

Saudi Arabia follows a strict interpretation of Islam under which people convicted of murder, drug trafficking, rape and armed robbery can be executed — usually with a sword.

According to an Associated Press count, Saturday's execution was the 22nd beheading this year in Saudi Arabia. In 2008, 102 people were beheaded.

I dont think this is a big deal. The death penalty is the death penalty. Although I dont think robbery or drug trafficking should be punished that way. Where are all the civil rights groups on this one? Probably picketing outside of Guantanamo because Akbar's pillow had lumps in it.  :'(

actually..it would be very interesting to find out if all of these executed prisoners were people of influence or affluence?...or are they just executing poor slobs??

The brother that does that (executions) is quite candid about his work, his sword, and how the job was passed down to him from his father, and how he will pass it down to his son.

i agree with the beheadings of rapists, they should do it in Australia and the U.S, or we can send them there
