maybe, but what the hell does that matter?  A blatant lie told on another forum makes it ok here?  Have you lost your mind?  No, it's not cool to tell someone here about a story that doesn't excist.  If the title says Obama hired acorn, it better be in the post.  He could have at least layed out a conspiracy theory, then fine.  But this was like selling someone a box of grapes labeled coconuts.  not cool.

Yeah.  Right.   ::)  You're missing the point.  Plug the title in google and that's the first thing that pops up.  So either james posted both stories, and made up the titles for both, or he simply cut and pasted someone else's story.

Either way, this is stupid.

You gotta be kidding.  This happens all the time on this board.  People take liberties with stories.  Some embellish.  Some just flat make stuff up.  This looks like he just cut and pasted something someone else wrote.

Getting worked up over this is silly.

Insane theories and outright lies are cool, as long as the CT site that BB posted - godlike productions - also posts it.

Gotcha!

No they don't.  If it's an opinion or a theory it's usually made apparent.  I do not see people post information that's not in the story as though it were.  The difference with this was that you're led to believe the title reflects the news/story.  This would be like posting a title that reads "Todd Palin father of Bristol's baby" and having a story/news/opinion that doesn't have anything of the sort in it.  I would very much be against that.  If someone is going to post something that's a CT, they should post it as such.  It's not a lie then, it's someone's thinking which may or may not be true but at least you see it for what it is.  embellishment isn't the point, deception is the point.

Does this fit BB's standard?

Sarah Palin Announces her 2012 Run for Presidency

Since her selection as John McCain's running mate, the Republican National Committee spent more than $150,000 on clothing and make-up for Gov. Sarah Palin, her husband, and even her infant son, it was reported on Tuesday evening.

That entertaining scoop -- which came by way of Politico -- sent almost immediate reverberations through the presidential race. A statement from McCain headquarters released hours after the article bemoaned the triviality of the whole affair.

"With all of the important issues facing the country right now, it's remarkable that we're spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses," said spokesperson Tracey Schmitt. "It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign."

But even the most timid of Democrats are unlikely to heed this call for civility. For starters, the story has the potential to dampen enthusiasm among GOP activists and donors at a critical point in the presidential race. It also creates a huge PR headache for the McCain ticket as it seeks to make inroads among voters worried about the current economic crisis.

Mainly, however, Democrats (in this scenario) are not prone to forgiveness. After all, it was during this same campaign cycle that Republicans belittled the $400 haircut that former Sen. John Edwards had paid for with his own campaign money (the funds were later reimbursed). And yet, the comparison to that once-dominant news story is hardly close: if Edwards had gotten one of his legendary haircuts every singe week, it would still take him 7.2 years to spend what Palin has spent. Palin has received the equivalent of $2,500 in clothes per day from places such as Saks Fifth Avenue (where RNC expenditures totaled nearly $50,000) and Neiman Marcus (where the governor had a $75,000 spree).

Embellishment is deception.  Happens all the time on this board.

This is not a big deal.  He cut and pasted a story apparently composed by someone else.  All one has to do, if they're interested, is read the story and make up their own mind, challenge the person who wrote the story, or as is more commonly the case here, attack the messenger.

This is not in the same category as a faked news story IMO.  Someone took liberties with the title.  I've seen far worse.

did you just not comprehend what I said above?  I'm sorry, you're wrong, people do not post a complete lie describing the contents of the story posted.  If it's done, it's done in a way that you know it's that person's opinion.  The way this reads, you have to read the story to find out that it's not there.  No, people don't do that here.  Certainly it isn't common like you say and I sure in the hell don't want to see it become common.

Did you not just read what I said?  Your attempt to distinguish embellishment from deception is wrong.  It's the same thing.  Embellishment is a fabrication.

Yes, it's common.  But this horse is about dead.  I said several posts up that this is one is stupid.  Certainly not the kind of thing to get worked up over.

you're completely missing my point.  My point sure in the hell was not to say embellishment is not deceptive. ::)

Instead of picking out a few words to spin my post, try reading the whole thing for a collective context.  I know that's probably to much to ask of you so just fucking focus on this point! "This would be like posting a title that reads 'Todd Palin father of Bristol's baby' and having a story/news/opinion that doesn't have anything of the sort in it."  If this shit is so common here as you say, where are the examples?  I'm looking and I don't see them.  If this is indeed so common here, you should have no problem giving some examples.  I want to see posts where a lie is told in the title and you have to read an entire article to find in actuallity, it's not even in the post at all.  I'm waiting....

Join Ron Paul at the Clear Lake Tea Party, April 15

April 13, 2009

Dear Texas Patriot,

I'm excited to inform you that Ron Paul will be campaigning for liberty at the Clear Lake Tea Party this Wednesday!

As activists gather all across the country on April 15th to protest the monstrous growth of our government, Congressman Paul is excited to attend this event in his home district and to be among friends and neighbors while promoting the Constitution.

For more information, visit the Clear Lake Tea Party website here: http://www.clearlaketeaparty.com/

The Tea Party starts at 6pm at Clear Lake Park, 5001 Nasa Parkway, Seabrook, TX.

You will want to enter on the south side of (Clear Lake) of Nasa Parkway and meet at the Brick Pavilion.

With the Clear Lake Tea Party, Texas C4L members have a perfect chance to show the media and the establishment that support for the freedom message is stronger than ever.

In Liberty,

John Tate

President, Campaign for Liberty

P.S. Remember, this is Dr. Paul's home district, so we want to be sure to pack the place in support!

your attack aside, tell me, how can one support Ron Paul and Obama at the same time?  Thw two are polar opposites on every single issue.
