Socialism does operate in America as the Police, Fire Department, Military, National Institute of Health, Center for Disease Control, US Department of Agriculture, Medicare, Social Security along with many other programs that all Americans enjoy and support because of their smooth operation and benefits as a whole to society.  Socialism is also responsible worker`s rights and the enforcement of fair and just treatment of the employed from their employer.  Food Safety was also brought to the forefront by the Great Socialist Upton Sinclair.  A fun fact is  The Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy,a socialist, and the cousin of socialist utopian novelist Edward Bellamy, for Children to recite on honor of the Chicago World`s Fair as a commemoration of Christopher Columbus.

2.  Socialists tend to have very high Intelligence Quotients as many are Scientists, (Albert Einstein, Bertrand Russel) in numerous fields as well as writers, Professors, Literary Scholars, Politicians, Artists, Actors as well as everyday laborers.   A few of the many notables are, Victor Hugo, Eugene V. People who join the US armed forces are taken care of. They are fed, provided with cheap or free transportation and accommodations, and given discounts on groceries and other goods. All this, thanks to collectivized production and taxpayer dollars.  The pay is also rank and merit based and increases the longer you are serving in the military. Capitalism is profit oriented whereas the military is merit based which is a total delineation from Capitalism. The United States military is an extreme form of Socialism in this regard.  Most Socialistic entities involve a Capitalistic Hybrid which is known as Democratic Socialism.

Likewise, If you're dropping off the bottom rung of the social ladder in America, the safety net of the military is there to catch you, and provide an attractive alternative to the hell of split shifts of minimum wage work. Just a few caveats: you have to be willing to kill others and die for your country. The United States Postal Service and the Department of Transportation for our road development is also a wonderful Socialist institution in which all Americans benefit and they do run pretty smooth.  The mail service is simply amazing, especially in the past 20 years how efficient it has become.

Garbage collection is also a great Socialist program.  Some cities do not have this socialist program and residents have to pay a private collection agency large amounts of money to whisk their refuse away.  Luckily this tends to be only among smaller towns.

I am not provided with cheap or free transportation..I own my cars just like anybody else does...I went to a dealer and bought them. Ah no....not every base has a school or DOD school system. Most schools are run under the jurisdiction of the local school system, even if they are on a military post. Daycare is provided for a fee, just like everybody else. Its based on rank and I can tell u that its more on Post then off. Yes we get healthcare..like many here who have have private insurance.

1.  Socialists want Universal Healthcare with a public option as well as a Private option if the moronic few feel better paying for it.  Nobody is taking away the Private companies.

2.  A Universal Healthcare system puts you in charge of whatever doctor you wish to see.  Nobody makes any medical decision or choice for you. 

3. We already pay more for our current system per capita, then any single other nation with Universal Healthcare.  Universal Healthcare is a cheaper alternative to what we currently have. 

4. Democratic Socialists believe in a free market and do not want go get rid of the free market.

1. Exactly my point regarding not existing to make a profit, but to provide for the needs of the majority where the majority benefit, hence socialism. You work to not make a profit just as Universal Healthcare would work to not turn a profit, but to see to the needs of the people as you see to the needs of the people via defending and protecting us.  Socialism focuses on the needs of the people in lieu of profit just as your line of work dictates. 

2.You chose to buy yourself a car with the income you make.  You may have not needed the car if you live on base or if your MOS provides you transportation.  Military recruiters for instance, do not have to use their own vehicles and are provided with them.  This also goes for many Government employees, free transportation.  I do realize bases vary as far as needs go and some are better than others, but there is no denying that the Socialistic services provided within the Military outweigh the per capita services available to civilians.

3. Some of the most brilliant people have been members of the military including MANY Socialists.  Tony Benn being one.  The military provides a great opportunity for all education and vocational levels.  The lower rungs of the military are great for people who would otherwise not be able to get a job due to location, lack of training or education. Just as in anything else, some of the dumbest people have served in the military. There is no denying this. 

4. I have never bothered to guess your credentials or mocked them and wonder why you feel threatened in this respect and believe that I have.  I can only judge your intelligence by what you post, provided these are your true expressions of thought.

McCain's claim that Obama "will increase taxes on 50% of small business revenue" - the line he used in the second presidential debate - is incorrect because of how income is taxed.

If a business owner falls into the top bracket, that doesn't mean that all of his or her income is taxed at the highest level.

For example: If a small-business owner makes $210,000 in taxable income, he edges into the 33% bracket, one of the two top tax rates that Obama would like to raise.

But he would pay the higher tax only on the amount that exceeds the cutoff - in 2007, the two top tax rates applied to single filers with income of $160,850 or more and joint filers with income of at least $195,850. As a single filer, this business owner would see his federal taxes increase $1,475 under Obama's plan, which calls for raising the 33% tax rate to 36%.

"While Obama does favor raising the top two rates, the quote is not true because not all the small business income of those in the top two rates is taxed at the 33% and 35% rates," said Gerald Prante, a senior economist at the nonpartisan Tax Foundation.

The bottom line: McCain's claim only works by using an overly broad definition of what counts as a "small business" - and even with that definition, fewer than 2% of business owners would be hit by Obama's proposed rate increase. The morons in the military are  not representative of the entire military of course, just like the idiot in the mailroom at Goldman Sachs is not representative of the entire intelligence of the company.

Surely you don`t think everyone in the military is special.  The minimum requirements to join the military for the lowest position possible is pretty low even when compared to civilian standards.  There is no denying this.
